In Leon Poultney’s February 2026 drive for TechRadar, the 2026 Macan GTS Electric felt agile on tight roads near Nice, with direct steering and rear-wheel steering that helped disguise its size. Those are promising impressions, not measured handling results or a long-term verdict.
What the GTS is—and where it sits in the lineup
The Macan GTS Electric is the performance-focused model below the Turbo. It combines high output with chassis hardware intended to make the SUV feel more responsive, rather than relying on acceleration alone. Porsche’s October 2025 US launch release listed 563 hp in Overboost and a 0–60 mph time of 3.6 seconds for the 2026 model. The GTS is quick, but the Turbo is quicker and more powerful.
The model-year distinction matters: Porsche’s live US page showed 2027 vehicles when accessed on October 7, 2026. Its figures and prices are not the 2026 launch figures.
What it felt like on the road
Steering and agility
In his first drive near Nice, TechRadar’s Leon Poultney found the steering direct and the GTS unusually agile for its size on tight mountain roads. He reported that optional rear-axle steering helped the SUV feel less cumbersome. These are subjective observations from one drive in France, not an instrumented comparison with the Turbo or a combustion Macan.

Modes, sound and comfort
Poultney said the drive modes changed the sound and character of the car, and that it could settle into a quiet, comfortable cruise after more demanding driving. His conclusion was: “This feels like the Macan to have if driving dynamics are still important to you.” That is the reviewer’s assessment, not evidence of a broader shift in Porsche-buyer opinion.

Porsche also describes Track Endurance Mode as cooling the battery to delay possible power reduction caused by heat during sustained high-performance driving. That is the manufacturer’s explanation; the release provides no independent lap-time or sustained-output test.
GTS versus Turbo: the trade-off on Porsche’s current US page
The comparison below uses Porsche USA’s live 2027 model-page figures accessed October 7, 2026. They should not be read as a retrospective comparison of 2026 launch prices.

The current listed gap is $7,400 before options and other charges. The Turbo’s extra 67 hp and half-second advantage to 60 mph may matter to buyers who prioritize maximum output. The GTS’s argument is that it offers performance-focused suspension and standard torque vectoring below the Turbo; whether that balance is preferable depends on what the buyer values, not on a proven head-to-head handling result.
For historical context, Porsche’s October 21, 2025 US release listed the 2026 GTS at $103,000 MSRP. That launch-era figure is distinct from both the live 2027 listing and a dealer’s final transaction price. Porsche says current MSRP excludes options, taxes, title, registration, delivery, processing and handling fees, dealer charges, and possible tariffs; dealers set actual selling prices.

Power, acceleration and regional specification differences
Porsche’s US launch release specifies 380 kW (509 hp) normal output, rising to 420 kW (563 hp) in Overboost with Launch Control, and maximum torque of 704 lb-ft. It quotes 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds, a 12.0-second quarter mile and a 155 mph top track speed for the 2026 US model.
European figures use different units and a different range test cycle. Porsche’s technical press kit lists 380 kW (516 PS) combined output, 420 kW (571 PS) Overboost, 955 Nm maximum torque, 0–100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a 250 km/h top speed. These European specifications are not alternative US ratings.

Range and charging: read the conditions with the headline
Porsche’s US launch release describes a 100 kWh battery and says DC charging from 10 to 80 percent can take as little as 21 minutes under ideal conditions, with peak charging power up to 270 kW. The current Porsche US page ties its charging claim to a CCS fast charger above 270 kW and 850 V, a battery temperature of 77°F, an initial state of charge of 9 percent, and remaining range below 37 miles. It is a best-case manufacturer claim, not a typical-session guarantee for every public charger.
Porsche’s European press kit reports up to 586 km combined WLTP range and combined WLTP energy consumption of 20.6–18.5 kWh/100 km. Those are European WLTP figures, not EPA estimates. The US model page used here did not provide a US EPA range figure, so an EPA range should not be inferred from the WLTP number.
Price context in the UK
TechRadar’s February 2026 report gives UK prices of £89,000 for the GTS and £97,500 for the Turbo. Those are the article’s contemporaneous UK-market figures, separate from Porsche’s US MSRP listings; they do not establish current UK pricing.
So, is it good enough to convert skeptics?
For a skeptic whose objection is that an electric SUV cannot feel engaging, Poultney’s first-drive impressions and the GTS’s chassis specification make a persuasive case to take it seriously. For someone who needs proof from repeatable testing, a direct instrumented comparison or longer-term ownership evidence, this single first drive does not settle the question. Nor is there consumer-survey evidence showing that the GTS has converted Porsche skeptics: “convert” remains a proposition, not a measured outcome.
