Verdict: The 2026 Mitsubishi Triton Raider is the Australian-market Triton flagship for buyers who want a factory-backed rough-road package rather than a standard GSR and a separate suspension build. Premcar and Monroe give it revised dampers, taller springs, more progressive bump stops, larger wheels and all-terrain tyres, while the 2.4-litre twin-turbo diesel, 4WD system and headline towing capacity remain unchanged. At Mitsubishi Australia’s listed $74,990 driveaway recommendation for private buyers, the Raider’s value depends on whether you place a premium on integrated engineering, warranty support and immediate usability.
It is not a faster Triton and this is not a long-term durability test. The comments about ride, steering and body control below are attributed to launch reviews and the published development information available for the Australian model.

What is the 2026 Triton Raider?
The Raider is a limited-position flagship dual-cab pickup for Australia, based on the MY26 Triton GSR and developed by Mitsubishi Motors Australia with Premcar. Mitsubishi presents it as a complete factory-backed vehicle, not a dealer-installed suspension lift. The official model page describes the Raider package and its available accessories at Mitsubishi Motors Australia.

That distinction matters. An aftermarket build can be tailored to a particular load, tyre, touring route or budget, but the buyer must select parts, check engineering compliance and manage compatibility. The Raider arrives with its suspension, wheels, tyres and underbody protection specified as one package and sold through Mitsubishi’s Australian retail network. It is aimed at owners who regularly travel corrugated roads, tracks and remote areas but still want a normal new-vehicle purchase, finance and servicing relationship.

The Raider does not replace the GSR’s engine with a higher-output version. Its appeal is chassis control, clearance, tyre specification and factory integration. Buyers expecting a power increase, extra towing rating or a dramatically different cabin will be disappointed.
How much does the 2026 Mitsubishi Triton Raider cost?
Mitsubishi’s official Raider page lists a recommended $74,990 driveaway price for private buyers. RACV reports the same $74,990 figure but presents it as a price plus on-road costs, so the two references use different price conventions. A driveaway recommendation normally bundles the relevant registration, compulsory charges and dealer-related costs for the stated transaction, while a price quoted before on-road costs does not.
The amount you actually pay can vary with state or territory, insurance, registration timing, accessories, finance arrangements and dealer charges. Ask for a written, itemised driveaway quote for your postcode rather than treating the headline number as universal.

The Ranger Tremor and D-Max Blade figures come from CarExpert’s launch coverage and are not like-for-like with Mitsubishi’s driveaway presentation. Their equipment, model-year timing, registration costs and dealer offers can also differ. Use the table to understand market positioning, not as a final ordering of value.
What changes has Premcar made?
Premcar worked with suspension specialist Monroe on unique front and rear damper packages. RACV says the front damper incorporates an internal rebound spring, while the dampers use larger pistons and greater oil volume to control heat during sustained heavy use such as towing or corrugated-road travel. Taller front springs and more progressive bump stops are part of the package.
Those descriptions explain the intended operating window, not a guaranteed numerical improvement. Larger oil volume and piston area can provide more thermal capacity, and progressive bump stops can make the end of suspension travel more controlled, but no independent dataset supplied here quantifies a speed increase, payload gain or durability advantage.

RACV initially reported a 25mm track-width increase and later clarified that figure to 20mm. The corrected 20mm figure should be treated as the current published description rather than the earlier number. Ride-height figures are reported as 25mm at the front, comprising 10mm from springs and 15mm from the wheel-and-tyre combination, and 15mm at the rear.
The styling brief was deliberately restrained. Mitsubishi Australia product strategy general manager Bruce Hampel told RACV: “A lot of our research showed that Australian customers didn’t like big, glary decals on the vehicle so we tried to keep it as subdued as possible and also use it as an element to tie in the colour links around the vehicle,”.
Engine, transmission and four-wheel drive
The Raider carries the Triton GSR’s 2.4-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo-diesel engine. Published output is 150kW and 470Nm, sent through a six-speed automatic transmission and Mitsubishi’s Super Select II 4WD system. There is no Raider-specific power or torque increase.
RACV quotes a claimed combined fuel consumption of 7.7L/100km. That is a laboratory claim, not a real-world result from a loaded touring vehicle, a towing run or an independent instrumented test. Tyre pressure, payload, speed, terrain, temperature and accessory fitment can all move actual consumption substantially.
Super Select II gives the driver a choice of two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive operating modes appropriate to the surface and conditions. The Raider’s mechanical changes are therefore concentrated on how the vehicle carries speed and load over uneven ground, not on changing the engine’s basic operating envelope.

RACV reports a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, 750kg for an unbraked trailer and a 350kg towball download. These are the figures to use when planning a trailer, subject to the towbar rating, vehicle mass limits, axle limits and the trailer’s own compliance requirements.

Payload needs more caution. CarExpert publishes a 990kg payload figure, while RACV described its own payload estimate as provisional. Until Mitsubishi’s current specification sheet or the individual vehicle compliance plate confirms the number, do not treat 990kg as a definitive capacity for every Raider.
Payload is the mass available for occupants, luggage, accessories, tools, towball download and any cargo in the tub. A canopy, electric tonneau, recovery equipment, fridge, second spare wheel and towball download all reduce what remains for passengers and luggage. Weigh the completed vehicle and trailer combination if your touring plan is close to any limit.
How does the Raider drive?
CarExpert’s launch review reported improved steering response and better body control, particularly at speed and on rough surfaces. Those are reviewer impressions from launch conditions, not results from a long-term ownership test. The revised dampers, spring rates, bump stops, wheel and tyre package provide a plausible hardware explanation for the impressions, but the published review does not establish a quantified improvement in cornering speed, braking distance or ride comfort.
The same review said engine performance was unchanged, which is consistent with the carry-over 150kW/470Nm powertrain. If you need stronger acceleration for overtaking with a heavy trailer, the Raider does not offer a factory power upgrade over the GSR.
CarExpert also found the driver-monitoring system too sensitive. A system that frequently prompts an attentive driver can become distracting on long trips, especially on corrugated roads where head movement and road positioning are more variable. Buyers should spend enough time in the vehicle to understand the alerts and confirm that the settings suit their driving before committing.
Two different development figures are published and should not be merged. RACV reports 7,000km of real-world Australian outback testing for the Raider. CarExpert says the modifications underwent 40,000km of testing to confirm performance and durability. Those statements may describe different programs or scopes; neither is a substitute for independent long-term ownership data.

Safety and technology
CarExpert reports a five-star ANCAP rating based on testing conducted in 2024, with category scores of 86% for adult occupant protection, 89% for child occupant protection, 73% for vulnerable road-user protection and 70% for safety assist. ANCAP ratings can have applicability dates and variant conditions, so confirm the current rating and its relevance to the exact Raider specification before purchase.

The attention-monitoring sensitivity noted in the launch review is the most prominent usability criticism in the available coverage. A test drive should include urban traffic, a freeway and an uneven road so you can assess warning frequency, camera views, lane assistance and the way the systems behave with your preferred seating position.
Accessories and factory integration
The official Raider page gives a snorkel, electric roll-top tonneau cover with sports-bar adapter, bonnet protector and tow-bar pack as examples of available accessories. It says the Raider uses the same accessories available for a Triton GSR, but the nudge bar is excluded where it conflicts with the front under-garnish. Accessory images may depict a GLS, so an item shown on the page should not automatically be assumed to be standard equipment or compatible with every Raider configuration.
Before ordering, ask the dealer to identify each item by Mitsubishi part number and confirm its effect on payload, approach angle, warranty, parking sensors, cameras and the electric tonneau’s sports-bar adapter. A factory accessory can simplify fitment and warranty administration, but it still consumes payload and may alter the vehicle’s dimensions.

RACV says the Raider is sold through Mitsubishi’s Australian retail network and is covered by a service-conditional 10-year/200,000km warranty. If the service conditions are not met, the standard factory warranty is five years or 100,000km. CarExpert describes 10-year roadside assistance and capped-price servicing as service-activated benefits.
Read the current Mitsubishi terms for the exact service intervals, eligible servicing channels, exclusions, roadside-assistance renewal rules and transfer conditions. Keep invoices and service records, particularly if the vehicle is used for towing or remote travel. A warranty linked to scheduled servicing is valuable only when the owner understands the conditions and budgets for the required maintenance.

Raider versus an aftermarket GSR build
The central buying decision is not simply Raider versus another ute. It is a factory-integrated package versus selecting and engineering upgrades yourself.
- Choose the Raider if you want the suspension, wheels, tyres and protection fitted before delivery, prefer one manufacturer-backed purchase and value a known specification for rough-road travel.
- Choose a standard GSR and modify it if you need a different tyre load rating, specialised touring suspension, a particular canopy or a lower initial outlay, and you are prepared to manage certification, compatibility and warranty questions.
- Compare another factory off-road variant if its payload, safety behaviour, cabin equipment or towing needs better match your use. Compare driveaway with driveaway and pre-on-road pricing with pre-on-road pricing.
For the Raider, the factory approach also limits customisation. The 285/60R18 tyre is distinctive, and replacing it requires checking load index, speed rating, clearance, rim width and local legal requirements. The same applies if you plan to change the suspension again: alterations can affect alignment, electronic safety systems, towball loading and warranty discussions.
Questions to ask before signing
- What is the complete driveaway price in my state, including registration, stamp duty, dealer charges and selected accessories?
- What payload and gross vehicle mass are printed on this vehicle’s compliance information, and how much payload remains after the fitted accessories?
- Are the snorkel, tonneau, sports-bar adapter and tow-bar pack approved for this exact Raider build, and do they change the warranty or sensor operation?
- What are the current service intervals and the conditions for the 10-year/200,000km warranty, capped-price servicing and 10-year roadside assistance?
- What tyre load rating and replacement options are available for the 285/60R18 package, and what are the local requirements for changing tyre size?
- Does the current ANCAP rating apply to this exact model year and equipment level?
- Can I test the driver-monitoring and lane-assistance systems on the roads where I will actually use the ute?
Is the 2026 Triton Raider worth the price?
The Raider makes the strongest case for buyers who would otherwise pay to source a suspension package, wider wheels, all-terrain tyres and underbody protection immediately after buying a GSR. Premcar’s and Monroe’s changes target heat management, rebound control, rough-road body control and clearance, and CarExpert’s launch impressions point to tangible improvements in steering response and composure. The factory-backed nature of the package is a meaningful advantage for owners who want a single, documented vehicle specification.

The Ranger Tremor and D-Max Blade also occupy the same broad market, but their published launch prices use different on-road-cost assumptions, so a fair choice requires current quotes and matching equipment.
On the evidence available, the Raider is a sensible premium for a ready-made rough-road Triton, not an automatic bargain for every GSR buyer. It is best suited to someone who values factory integration and immediate usability more than maximum customisation or extra engine performance.
