What is the reported Malaysian price?
On October 7, paultan.org reported that an updated Mazda Malaysia price list showed the new CX-5 2.5G High at RM171,510.40 on the road, without insurance. The report rounded this to RM171,510. The figure is a secondary report of Mazda Malaysia’s list, not an independently verified price announcement in the material available here. Check Mazda Malaysia’s current price list or launch announcement before making a purchase decision.
The report lists one Malaysian variant: the 2.5G High. It says the new model is RM6,550 more than the current second-generation 2.5G 2WD High, listed at RM164,960.40. Mazda Malaysia’s existing CX-5 page describes the current range, not the third-generation model’s final local specification.

When is it launching in Malaysia?
The Malaysian launch was scheduled for October 8, 2026. This article reflects the position on October 7, the day before the scheduled event. The September pre-launch report said the new CX-5 was expected to arrive as a fully imported (CBU) model, with local assembly (CKD) anticipated around 12 to 16 months later. That was a reported plan, not a confirmed production schedule.

What is known about the Malaysian engine?
The October 7 report identifies a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre inline-four petrol engine for the 2.5G High. It does not establish Malaysian power and torque figures, transmission, drivetrain, or whether the engine is paired with 24-volt mild-hybrid assistance. Full local specifications were due to be revealed at launch.
Do not assume that powertrain details reported for Japan, the Philippines, Australia, or Indonesia apply to Malaysia. The available pre-launch report described different configurations in those markets but did not confirm which, if any, matches the Malaysian car.

What is reported to change on the third-generation CX-5?
September pre-launch coverage described a larger body and more practical cabin. These are reported changes, not confirmed final Malaysian-market specifications.
- Dimensions: 4,690 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,695 mm tall, with a 2,815 mm wheelbase. The report described it as 115 mm longer, 15 mm wider and 15 mm taller than the previous model, attributing the full length increase to the longer wheelbase.
- Rear-seat access and flexibility: Wider-opening rear doors and 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats were reported.
- Cargo capacity: The boot was said to offer 61 litres more capacity than before.
- Cabin and controls: A redesigned interior with fewer physical controls, including for the air conditioning, and a large touchscreen was described. Reported screens vary by market or specification: 12.9 or 15.6 inches for the central touchscreen, alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument display.
- Other equipment: Google services and Qi wireless charging were described; a 12-speaker Bose system and panoramic glass roof were reported as available options. The report does not say which items are standard on Malaysia’s 2.5G High.
What should buyers compare before deciding?
The RM6,550 price gap is only one part of the comparison. Once Mazda publishes the complete local specification, check what the 2.5G High includes and compare it with the existing 2.5G 2WD High.

- Confirm Malaysian engine output, hybrid assistance, transmission and drivetrain rather than relying on another market’s specification.
- Check whether the reported changes to rear access, passenger space, boot capacity and split-folding seats are present in the local car.
- Try the touchscreen-focused cabin and assess whether its reduced physical controls suit your daily use.
- Compare warranty, free-maintenance coverage and window-film terms, including exclusions and service requirements.
The Mazda Malaysia CX-5 model page provides context for the existing generation, whose range includes 2.0-litre, 2.5-litre, diesel and turbo grades. It should not be used to fill gaps in the new model’s Malaysian specification.

The October 7 report says the new CX-5 comes with a five-year/100,000-km manufacturer warranty, a free maintenance package and Activ-e window film. It does not set out exclusions, service intervals, geographic limits or full package terms. Confirm the current terms with Mazda Malaysia or an authorised dealer before relying on them.
