In Spectre, the antagonist’s car in the Rome chase was a Jaguar C-X75, pursued by Bond in an Aston Martin DB10. Calling Type 01 a “perfect villain” is a design opinion—not a claim about the film’s cars.
Which Jaguar faced Bond’s Aston Martin in Spectre?
The Rome chase paired the Jaguar C-X75 with Bond’s Aston Martin DB10. RM Sotheby’s identifies the C-X75 stunt car as a film car and documents that it was offered at an Abu Dhabi auction in 2019. That is a historical auction record, not evidence that the car is currently for sale. RM Sotheby’s 2019 listing for the C-X75.
What are Type 01, Type 00 and C-X75?
They refer to separate Jaguar vehicles and contexts, not alternate names for the same Bond car.
- C-X75: The concept that developed into working prototypes and the Jaguar used as the antagonist’s car in Spectre. Jaguar says the planned production programme was cancelled in 2012. Jaguar’s C-X75 history.
- Type 00: Jaguar describes this separately as a non-production vehicle. Jaguar’s 90th-anniversary announcement.
- Type 01: A current Jaguar model name. Jaguar’s newsroom announced it on 13 May 2026 and later published prototype coverage; those announcements do not identify it as the car from the Spectre chase. Jaguar’s newsroom.
What the C-X75’s reported figures say—and do not say
Jaguar’s current C-X75 history page gives prototype specifications, not independent test results for a production car. It reports combined power output above 633.84 kW and 1000 Nm of torque, a first prototype that exceeded 321 km/h in testing, and an electric-only range of 60 km. The page does not date each figure individually, so these should be read as manufacturer-reported prototype claims, not as a model-year specification or a road-test comparison with the DB10.

Jaguar’s page also attributes a promotional description of the programme to Adrian Hallmark, then Global Brand Director, calling it “arguably the world’s fastest test-bed for the world’s most advanced technologies.” That is Jaguar’s characterization, not an independently verified record.
Why the C-X75 makes a convincing screen rival
The film comparison works because the two cars play different roles: the DB10 is Bond’s Aston Martin, while the C-X75 serves as the antagonist’s Jaguar. In visual and narrative terms, a viewer may find the Jaguar a suitably menacing foil to Bond’s car. That is an aesthetic reading of the film, not a measurable performance verdict—and it applies to the C-X75, not Type 01.

There is no basis here for declaring Type 01 objectively faster or better than the DB10. The documented facts establish the film cars’ identities and the C-X75’s prototype history; they do not provide a like-for-like road test of Type 01 and DB10.

No. Jaguar says the C-X75 began as a concept unveiled in 2010, advanced to working prototypes, and had its production programme cancelled in 2012. The film car at auction was identified as a stunt car. Neither fact means consumers could buy a production C-X75.
