The U.S.-market 2026 Lexus IS gets a substantial styling, display, and safety-equipment refresh, but it is not a new-generation car: its IS 350 retains the 3.5-liter V6 and the same basic drivetrain pairings. Whether it is the right buy depends on how its price, space, efficiency, and driving feel compare with current alternatives.
This article covers the U.S. lineup and pricing. Lexus offers different IS versions and grades in other markets.
What changed on the 2026 Lexus IS?
The 2026 update focuses on the exterior, cabin, displays, and driver-assistance equipment. Lexus also says it refined the steering and suspension. The core U.S. powertrain remains the IS 350’s naturally aspirated V6, so this is a meaningful refresh rather than a full redesign or a powertrain overhaul.
Exterior styling and equipment
Lexus redesigned the front fascia to emphasize a low, wide stance. Both U.S. grades receive newly styled 19-inch lightweight wheels. The F SPORT can be equipped with a rear spoiler and red brake calipers, and Wind—a metallic light gray—is a new exterior color. Lexus USA’s 2026 IS announcement lists the U.S. changes.

Cabin and displays
The instrument panel and center console have been restyled. The Lexus Interface touchscreen and digital instrument cluster each measure 12.3 inches. New Forged Bamboo ornamentation appears on the center console and around the start switch; Radiant Red is a new interior color exclusive to F SPORT.
Connectivity and convenience
The car has USB-C ports at the front and rear of the center console and a Gen5 Qi-standard wireless charging area. Lexus identifies the infotainment system as Lexus Interface.
Steering and suspension
Lexus says it optimized the electric power steering and suspension for more linear, consistent steering feel and vehicle response. That describes the manufacturer’s development goal; the announcement does not provide independent comparative testing to establish how much the changes affect real-world driving.

Which 2026 Lexus IS versions are available in the U.S.?
Lexus USA lists two grades, IS 350 F SPORT Design and IS 350 F SPORT, each with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). All four combinations use the 3.5-liter V6, rated at 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.

The U.S. lineup should not be treated as universal. Lexus Global’s September 2025 announcement also names IS 300h and IS 350 variants, while Lexus Canada lists four AWD grades. Specifications and availability vary by market.
What does the 2026 Lexus IS cost in the U.S.?
Lexus USA’s price table, updated May 1, 2026, lists the following MSRP-plus-delivery, processing, and handling (DPH) prices. The DPH fee is $1,395.

These are published MSRP-plus-DPH figures, not dealer transaction prices or a complete out-the-door total. Options, taxes, registration, local fees, incentives, and dealer pricing can affect what a buyer pays; check current local inventory and a written quote.
Canada has a different lineup and price basis. Lexus Canada’s February 19, 2026 announcement lists AWD-only F SPORT DESIGN, F SPORT 2, F SPORT 3, and Special Appearance Package grades, with starting MSRPs from C$56,855 to C$69,567. Its estimated vehicle-price column includes additional fees and excludes taxes, licensing, insurance, and registration, so those amounts are not directly comparable with U.S. MSRP-plus-DPH.
What safety and driver-assistance features are included?
Lexus USA says Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard on the U.S. 2026 IS. Listed functions include:

These are driver-assistance features, not autonomous driving. Their operation depends on system design, conditions, and driver input; they do not guarantee collision avoidance. Consult the owner’s manual for each feature’s operating limits.
Is the Special Appearance Package available?
Lexus announced a North American limit of 350 IS 350 F SPORT Special Appearance Package units. The package includes Hakugin Matte White paint, a White & Black interior, 19-inch black BBS forged wheels, triple-beam LED headlamps, and a moonroof, among additional equipment. The announced production limit does not establish that a particular vehicle can still be ordered or found; ask a dealer to confirm local inventory and availability.

It is relevant to a specific buyer: someone who wants the character of a naturally aspirated V6 in a compact luxury sedan, values a choice of RWD or AWD, and welcomes a larger, refreshed display setup and standard driver-assistance equipment. Lexus says the IS has accumulated approximately 1.3 million sales across 40 countries and regions, a cumulative figure reported by Lexus USA in 2025; that history does not by itself establish how the 2026 model stacks up against newer competitors.

The main qualification is that the refresh leaves the V6 output and transmission pairings unchanged. Lexus’s U.S. launch announcement did not yet provide EPA fuel-economy estimates or an acceleration time, so those figures should not be inferred from the power rating. Nor does manufacturer material settle whether the car offers the best ride, cabin space, efficiency, or value in its class.
How to judge it against alternatives
Use a back-to-back comparison rather than relying on the styling update or manufacturer descriptions alone. Check:
- Total price and equipment: compare the specific drivetrain and grade you would buy, including options and dealer quotes.
- Powertrain character: decide whether the V6 and its RWD or AWD transmission pairing suit your driving priorities.
- Efficiency: compare official economy estimates for the same model year and region, then consider your own driving mix.
- Comfort and usability: drive the routes you normally use and assess seat comfort, visibility, passenger and cargo space, ride, and controls.
- Technology: try the displays, phone connectivity, charging area, and driver-assistance features in person.
Lexus Global’s September 2025 world-premiere announcement gives a prototype overall length of 4,720 mm, 10 mm longer than the previous model. That is a global prototype specification, not a final U.S.-market measurement, and it cannot replace checking the actual car’s fit for your garage or passengers.
What the refresh does—and does not—establish
The 2026 IS is more current in visible design, cabin presentation, display size, connectivity, and listed standard safety assistance. Lexus also says it worked on steering and suspension response. Those changes support the case for considering the sedan, but they are not evidence that it has become a new-generation vehicle or that it outperforms rivals. Make the decision on the actual grade and price you can buy, and on a test drive that answers the questions important to you.
