The 2026 Lexus ES is a full redesign and the eighth generation of the sedan. In the U.S., it comes as a 244-hp ES 350h hybrid or as one of two battery-electric models: the front-wheel-drive ES 350e and all-wheel-drive ES 500e. All three share a larger cabin, a 12.3-inch driver display, a 14.0-inch touchscreen and Lexus Safety System+ 4.0. The prices and trim names below are U.S.-market details; Lexus offers a different model mix in Europe.
What changed for 2026?
Lexus redesigned the ES for its eighth generation, adapting the TNGA-K-based platform to accommodate either a gas-electric hybrid system or a battery-electric drivetrain. The hybrid and EVs share the overall design and body shell, with powertrain-specific details: the hybrid has a front intake and fuel door, while the EVs have a smoother nose and a charge port in the front fender.
The exterior takes cues from the Lexus LF-ZC concept. Details include L-shaped running lights, dual LED headlights and an illuminated rear light blade. Wavelength and Copper Crest are new paint colors; Caviar, Ultra White, Cloudburst Gray and Iridium return.
Compared with the previous generation, the 2026 ES has a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase, is 2.2 inches wider, is 6.5 inches longer overall and stands 4.5 inches taller. Lexus reports that the hybrid gains 1.4 inches of rear legroom, 0.8 inch of front headroom and 0.4 inch of rear headroom. Its higher front hip point is intended to make entry and exit easier.

Which U.S. powertrain should you choose?
The main choice is between a hybrid that refuels at gas stations and two fully electric models. The ES 350h is the only hybrid; the ES 350e prioritizes the longer of Lexus’s two EV range estimates, while the ES 500e adds a rear motor and all-wheel drive.

ES 350h hybrid
The ES 350h pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with front motor-generators and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. Lexus offers front-wheel drive or, for the first time on an ES hybrid, all-wheel drive. The AWD version adds a 54-hp rear e-Axle; Lexus reports 244 hp combined for both drivetrains. The 46-mpg combined EPA estimate applies to the FWD model.

ES 350e and ES 500e electric models
Both EVs use a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery beneath the passenger floor. The 350e has one front motor, while the 500e adds a rear motor and DIRECT4 AWD. Lexus estimates 0–60 mph in 7.4 seconds for the 350e and 5.1 seconds for the 500e; these are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results.
The EPA-estimated ranges are not promises of real-world distance. They are listed for models with standard 19-inch wheels, and weather and other conditions can affect the range you achieve.

What charging equipment and times does the ES EV include?
The U.S. ES 350e and ES 500e use a North American Charging System (NACS) J3400-style charge port and support Level 1, Level 2 and DC fast charging. Lexus specifies an 11-kW onboard AC charger, about seven hours for Level 2 charging and about 28 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using Level 3 DC charging at up to 150 kW. Those times are Lexus estimates under ideal conditions; the earlier reveal’s roughly 30-minute figure was preliminary. Actual charge time varies with conditions and equipment.
- Every ES BEV includes a CCS-to-NACS plug adapter and a dual-voltage cable for 120V Level 1 and 240V Level 2 inputs.
- Lexus says the included equipment is compatible with more than 76,000 Level 2 and Level 3 public charging stations nationwide, as described in its launch information.
- Battery preconditioning can be controlled on the touchscreen. With the applicable connected service, route navigation to a public charger can also trigger it.
- Plug & Charge requires an active Remote Connect trial or subscription and one-time enrollment.
The included cable means a separate home charging cable is not automatically required. Owners considering a home Level 2 EVSE should confirm the connector and electrical requirements suit their home and vehicle.

What’s new inside, and what safety technology is standard?
Every 2026 ES has a 12.3-inch digital Multi-Information Display and a 14.0-inch Lexus Interface touchscreen. The system supports two Bluetooth phone connections, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air software updates that depend on 5G connectivity. Lexus lists an integrated Drive Recorder for both the BEV and hybrid models.
Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 is standard across the lineup. Lexus describes features including a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection and Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, which has operating conditions. These driver-assistance systems are not autonomous driving and do not guarantee collision prevention.

The ES 350h includes heated and ventilated eight-way power front seats. On the U.S. ES 350e FWD Luxury, the available Luxury Executive Package adds reclining outboard rear seats, a passenger-side ottoman, massage, heating and ventilation, a power rear shade and multi-zone climate controls.
How much does the 2026 Lexus ES cost in the U.S.?
Lexus’s May 2026 launch pricing below includes a $1,395 delivery, processing and handling (DPH) charge. Dealer pricing varies, and Lexus says the fee may change.

How does the European lineup differ?
The prices, trims and specifications above are for the U.S. lineup, not a global price list. Lexus Europe’s May 27, 2026 announcement describes ES 350e and ES 500e electric models alongside ES 300h and ES 350h hybrids, and says AWD can be available on BEV and hybrid versions. It does not establish that U.S. trim names, prices or EPA ratings apply in Europe. Check the local Lexus site for market-specific specifications and arrival timing.
