The 2026 Lamborghini Temerario makes a case for electrification without giving up the high-revving drama expected of a Lamborghini: its twin-turbo V8 spins to 10,000 rpm, while three electric motors add power and front-axle traction. Whether that trade is worth making depends on what you want from the Huracán’s successor—more speed and hybrid capability, or the sound and simplicity of its naturally aspirated V10.
What the Temerario is—and why it is a hybrid
Lamborghini calls the Temerario its first super sports car with a twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors, and the second model in its HPEV range. It is plug-in capable: the battery can support electric driving, rather than serving only as a brief power boost. Lamborghini’s official model page and 2026 brochure list a lithium-ion battery and a front e-axle.
The layout is a significant change from the Huracán’s naturally aspirated V10. The Temerario combines a 4.0-liter, 3,995.2 cm³ V8 with three motors; Lamborghini rates the combustion engine at 800 CV between 9,000 and 9,750 rpm and total system output at 920 CV (677 kW). Car and Driver describes the V8 as redlining at 10,000 rpm. These figures refer to different measures: the engine-only rating is not the combined output, and neither should be casually relabeled in another power unit.
What the motors contribute
The front motors drive the front axle, enabling electric-only driving and torque vectoring, while the hybrid system can also supply power as the V8 accelerates. Car and Driver’s test describes the motors as supporting pure-electric operation, torque vectoring and regeneration under braking. In practical terms, electrification here is not just a fuel-economy feature: it adds a way to distribute drive at the front and recover some energy during deceleration.

The available evidence establishes plug-in capability, but not an electric-only range, charging time, or charging-cost figure. Those should not be inferred from the published power and EPA ratings.
How it compares with the Huracán and Revuelto
Against the Huracán
The Temerario takes over from a car defined by a naturally aspirated V10, replacing that engine with a turbocharged V8 and hybrid system. That is a change in character as much as hardware. The V8 still revs unusually high, but the added motors, turbochargers and battery make the new car a more complex proposition than a conventional V10 supercar.
AutoTrader.ca’s first drive at Estoril, Portugal, frames the transition bluntly: “Not even Lamborghini could outrun the electric future.” Its reviewer also asks, “Couldn’t it have been lighter? Simpler? More pure? Less expensive?” Those questions capture the central compromise rather than settling it: the Temerario brings more powertrain technology, but it cannot replicate the Huracán’s engine configuration or mechanical simplicity.

Against the Revuelto
Lamborghini identifies the Temerario as the second car in its HPEV range. That establishes its place in the brand’s hybrid lineup, but the cited specifications do not support a detailed comparison of the Temerario and Revuelto’s size, price or performance. The useful distinction here is the Temerario’s role as the Huracán successor and its particular V8-and-three-motor layout—not a claim that it matches or surpasses the Revuelto in every category.
How fast is it?
Lamborghini claims 0–100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 343 km/h. Those are factory figures, not independent test results. Car and Driver’s instrumented test, published July 16, 2026, recorded 2.1 seconds to 60 mph and a 9.4-second quarter-mile at 150 mph. The two acceleration times use different speed endpoints, so they are not directly interchangeable.
| Measure | Figure | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Combined output | 920 CV (677 kW); Car and Driver lists 907 hp | Lamborghini’s official model page and 2026 brochure use CV; Car and Driver’s U.S. specifications page uses hp. |
| Engine-only output | 800 CV at 9,000–9,750 rpm | Lamborghini’s 2026 brochure; combustion engine alone. |
| 0–100 km/h | 2.7 seconds | Lamborghini claim. |
| 0–60 mph | 2.1 seconds | Car and Driver instrumented test, July 16, 2026. |
| Quarter-mile | 9.4 seconds at 150 mph | Car and Driver instrumented test, July 16, 2026. |
| Maximum speed | 343 km/h | Lamborghini claim. |
Car and Driver reviewer Dan Edmunds characterized the car as “riotously quick” and “supremely agile,” and praised its snappy transmission. Those are the publication’s impressions from its test, not factory specifications or a long-term assessment.

What the hybrid system means on the road and track
The front e-axle gives the Temerario a function beyond adding peak output. Car and Driver says the front motors enable torque vectoring, electric driving and brake-energy regeneration. Torque vectoring can vary drive between the front wheels, giving the system another means of influencing how the car turns; regeneration recovers energy during braking for the hybrid system. The available sources describe these functions but do not provide a quantified lap-time gain or a direct track comparison with the Huracán.
That distinction matters to the review verdict. The architecture offers more tools for delivering power and managing traction, but the cited testing does not prove that the added complexity makes the Temerario faster around every circuit or more rewarding for every driver.

The Temerario’s performance figures do not tell the whole story of living with it. In Car and Driver’s July 2026 test, Edmunds listed a complex steering wheel, pedestrian powertrain noises and no memory function for the front-axle lift among the car’s drawbacks. The steering-wheel criticism points to an interface that may take attention to learn; the lift-system limitation is a practical inconvenience when the driver must raise the nose repeatedly over obstacles.

For U.S. buyers, Lamborghini publishes EPA estimates of 16 mpg combined running on gasoline alone and 24 MPGe combined on electricity and gasoline. MPGe is an efficiency comparison that accounts for electricity as well as fuel; it is not a second gasoline-only mpg figure. These are U.S. EPA estimates and should not be confused with European WLTP figures.

Does electrification suit a Lamborghini?
The Temerario’s hybrid system has a clear performance rationale: three motors join a high-revving V8 to produce 920 CV, provide front-axle drive and torque vectoring, and recover energy under braking. The official acceleration and top-speed claims, alongside Car and Driver’s instrumented results, show that the change has not made the Huracán’s successor slow.
But the evidence does not make the V10-to-V8 transition emotionally neutral. If the priority is naturally aspirated V10 sound and a less complicated powertrain, the Temerario is a difficult successor to embrace. If the priority is extraordinary output, response, traction options and plug-in hybrid operation, the engineering case is stronger. “God’s own plug-in hybrid” works as a provocation, not a settled verdict: the car’s appeal turns on whether its added capability outweighs what its predecessor’s engine made distinctive.
