Hyundai USA’s 2026 Tucson lineup lists SE, SEL, SEL Plus, XRT, SEL Premium and Limited; it does not list a Tucson N Line. Kia USA does list a 2026 Sportage X-Line, shown with a $33,090 starting MSRP, all-wheel drive (AWD), Terrain Mode and roof rails.
That means you should first confirm the country and model year on the vehicle’s build page. If you are buying a U.S.-specification 2026 vehicle, compare the Sportage X-Line with an actually available Tucson trim rather than assuming an N Line exists. The figures below are manufacturer-published information accessed October 13, 2026; publication dates were not shown on the cited pages.

What the U.S. 2026 lineups actually contain
Hyundai Tucson: six listed trims, no N Line
Hyundai USA’s 2026 Tucson specification and overview pages list six trims: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, XRT, SEL Premium and Limited. N Line is not among them. Hyundai’s published starting MSRP for the Tucson is $29,700, but that is the base model price, not a price for an N Line.
This distinction matters because a trim badge is not merely a styling package. It normally identifies a particular combination of drivetrain, wheels, interior equipment, technology and pricing. If a dealer advertisement, social-media post or older review uses “Tucson N Line,” check its country and model year before treating it as a U.S. 2026 shopping option.

Trim names can differ by country and can change between model years. A Tucson N Line advertised in another market or an earlier year should not be treated as evidence that a U.S. 2026 vehicle is available with that badge. Ask the dealer to provide the vehicle identification number (VIN), the original window sticker or a Hyundai build summary that explicitly shows the trim.
Kia Sportage: X-Line is listed
Kia USA’s displayed 2026 Sportage trim listing identifies an X-Line version with a $33,090 starting MSRP. The listing describes AWD, Terrain Mode and roof rails as part of the trim description. Its web address contains a legacy “2019” segment even though the page content identifies the 2026 model year, so verify the configuration and price in Kia’s current build tool before placing an order.
The X-Line listing gives a real configuration to investigate, but a starting MSRP is not the same as an out-the-door quote. Confirm destination or freight charges, dealer-installed accessories, taxes, registration, financing conditions and any regional incentive separately. A vehicle can be advertised at its starting price while the specific unit on a dealer lot carries additional equipment or fees.

| 2026 Kia Sportage X-Line | $33,090 starting MSRP as displayed; AWD, Terrain Mode and roof rails described. | A same-trim Tucson price, complete comparative equipment list or final transaction price. |
Why country and model year must come first
The title combines two trim names that are not confirmed as a U.S. 2026 pairing. A valid comparison needs three identifiers for each vehicle: market, model year and exact trim. “Tucson N Line” may refer to a configuration sold outside the United States, while “Sportage X-Line” may have different standard equipment in another market. Even within the United States, equipment and pricing can change for a new model year.
When you open a manufacturer page, check the model-year label, country selector, drivetrain and trim selector. Save the page or PDF showing those details. If a search result sends you to an older URL, do not assume the page is wrong, but do verify the current build tool; the Kia page reviewed here retains a “2019” segment in its address despite identifying the vehicle as a 2026 model.
For a non-U.S. shopper, the correct next step is to identify the local Hyundai and Kia distributors and request their current specification sheets. The U.S. figures in this article should not be carried over automatically to Canada, Europe, Australia or any other market.
Prices: why the available numbers are not an apples-to-apples verdict
The $29,700 Tucson figure is a base-trim starting MSRP. Hyundai states that MSRP excludes freight, tax, title and license fees, and dealer pricing can vary. It should not be compared directly with the $33,090 X-Line figure as though both represented equivalent equipment.

Those are model-level baseline figures, not prices for the named trims in this headline. Hyundai labels the comparison claim “based on comparison of specifications on manufacturer websites,” so it is the manufacturer’s description of its method, not an independent pricing or product test.

| Displayed figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| $29,700 | 2026 Tucson starting MSRP on Hyundai USA pages; base trim, not N Line; excludes freight, tax, title and license. |
| $33,090 | 2026 Sportage X-Line starting MSRP as displayed by Kia USA; confirm current build-page details. |
| $28,690 | Sportage baseline price shown on Hyundai’s comparison page; not an X-Line price. |
To compare what you would actually pay, obtain a build summary or window sticker for the exact drivetrain and equipment, then add destination, dealer-installed options, taxes, registration and any local incentives. Keep every line item in a worksheet. Record MSRP, destination, installed options, dealer fees, trade-in assumptions, incentives and financing separately so a temporary promotion is not mistaken for a permanent trim advantage.
For example, the $29,700 Tucson number can answer only, “What is the published entry price for a Tucson?” It cannot answer, “What does a Tucson with the same AWD, technology, comfort and cargo equipment as the X-Line cost?” Likewise, $33,090 tells you the displayed starting price for the X-Line, not necessarily the price of a particular dealer vehicle.
Powertrain and fuel-economy figures that are verified
2026 Tucson figures
Hyundai USA lists a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 187 horsepower for the 2026 Tucson. The page lists front-wheel drive (FWD) and optional HTRAC AWD.
Recommended Free Tools
| 2026 Tucson drivetrain | EPA city | EPA highway | EPA combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| FWD | 25 mpg | 33 mpg | 28 mpg |
| AWD | 24 mpg | 30 mpg | 26 mpg |
These are Hyundai’s official EPA estimates, not observed real-world consumption. Weather, speed, load, tire pressure, terrain and driving style can change fuel use. The AWD estimates are lower than the FWD estimates in each listed category: one mpg lower in city driving, three mpg lower on the highway and two mpg lower combined. That is a useful budgeting difference, but it is not a prediction of what every driver will achieve.
Use the combined estimate for a rough planning calculation, not a promise. If you drive many short urban trips, the city figure may be more relevant; if your use is mostly steady highway travel, the highway figure may be more useful. Keep the drivetrain constant when comparing quotes, because a FWD Tucson and an AWD vehicle are different purchase and operating-cost cases.
What is not established for a direct Sportage comparison
The material available for this comparison does not provide a matching Sportage X-Line horsepower or EPA table. Do not infer that the X-Line has the same engine, output or fuel economy as the Tucson, and do not use the Tucson estimates as a proxy for Kia’s vehicle. Request the exact X-Line window sticker or specification sheet for the drivetrain being considered.
When you receive Kia’s figures, check that they apply to the 2026 X-Line and the exact wheel, tire and drivetrain configuration on the quote. Preserve the EPA label with your purchase records. If a dealer gives you a number that differs from the manufacturer page, ask which model year or configuration it represents.

What the Sportage X-Line description tells you about use
AWD and Terrain Mode
Kia’s listing describes the X-Line with AWD and Terrain Mode. Those labels indicate the trim is configured for all-wheel traction and includes a selectable terrain setting, but the reviewed listing does not establish a towing rating, ground-clearance measurement, tire specification or off-road capability. Treat the equipment as a reason to inspect the detailed specification sheet, not as proof of a particular performance level.

AWD can be relevant to traction on wet, snowy or unpaved surfaces, but the label alone does not tell you how a vehicle will behave in every condition. Ask what tires are fitted, whether a spare tire is included, what the owner’s manual says about terrain settings and whether any restrictions apply. Do not use the X-Line name as a substitute for a published towing or off-road rating.
Roof rails and cross-bar planning
Because the X-Line listing includes roof rails, compatible cross bars are a plausible accessory for carrying approved cargo boxes, bikes or other equipment. The available information does not verify fitment for a particular cross-bar product, exact model-year/trim compatibility, load limits or availability through any retailer. Confirm those details against Kia’s accessory catalog and the vehicle’s owner documentation before buying.
Roof rails and cross bars are different components: rails are attached to the vehicle, while cross bars span the roof and support accessories. Before transporting anything, verify the maximum roof load, the accessory’s own weight, the cargo-box or bike-rack limit and the installation instructions. If you are comparing a Tucson trim, ask whether it includes rails, offers them as an option or requires a dealer accessory; do not assume the answer from the model name.
How to turn this into a valid vehicle comparison
Use the following sequence if both vehicles are available in your market, or if you are selecting a U.S. Tucson trim to compare with the X-Line.
- Lock the market and year. Record the country, model year, drivetrain and body style shown on each manufacturer’s build page. Do not rely on an overseas advertisement or a cached trim name. If the page and dealer quote disagree, pause until the VIN or window sticker resolves the conflict.
- Match equipment levels. List the standard and optional features on each exact vehicle: AWD, wheels and tires, heated seats, infotainment, cameras, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and other driver-assistance systems. Mark whether each item is standard, optional or unavailable. This prevents a higher Tucson trim from being compared with the X-Line’s base configuration, or vice versa.
- Compare transaction-ready prices. Save the configuration summary or window sticker, add destination and mandatory fees, and obtain written dealer quotes. Keep taxes, registration and incentives separate so a regional promotion does not look like a permanent MSRP difference. Ask whether dealer accessories are removable and whether a quoted discount depends on financing or a trade-in.
- Match powertrains and drivetrains. Compare engine output, transmission, FWD or AWD configuration, EPA estimates and any published towing limits for the exact versions. A FWD Tucson and an AWD Sportage are not equivalent test cases. Record the tire size as well if it changes the EPA label or ride characteristics.
- Check space using published measurements. Confirm passenger volume, cargo volume behind each seating row, rear-seat folding arrangements and lift-over dimensions. The figures reviewed here do not establish a cargo or passenger-space winner. Bring a child seat, stroller, musical instrument or other bulky item to the dealer if that is how you will use the SUV.
- Verify safety evidence. Look up current independent crash-test ratings for the exact model year and confirm which collision-avoidance features are standard on the trims you can buy. No independent safety ratings were established in the available material. Ask the dealer to demonstrate warning settings and camera views rather than assuming every feature is included.
- Read warranty terms for your market. Compare vehicle, powertrain, corrosion and roadside-assistance coverage, including mileage and time limits. A warranty winner cannot be declared from the listed pages. Obtain the written warranty booklet and check exclusions, transfer rules and required maintenance.
- Drive both on the same route. Use identical urban, highway and rough-pavement sections. Evaluate seating position, outward visibility, steering effort, ride, wind and tire noise, brake feel, lane-centering behavior and parking-camera usability. No independent road test or real-world fuel-economy result is established here. Drive each vehicle back-to-back when possible so weather, traffic and memory do not distort the comparison.
- Price ownership add-ons. Confirm roof-accessory costs, floor mats, cargo covers, maintenance plans and insurance quotes only after selecting the exact trim. Optional accessories can narrow or widen the initial price gap. Keep accessory prices separate from the vehicle’s advertised MSRP.
Which one makes sense for a U.S. 2026 shopper?
Choose the Kia listing as your starting point when its included hardware matches your needs
The X-Line is the only named trim in the headline that the U.S. 2026 listings verify. Its displayed $33,090 starting MSRP, AWD, Terrain Mode and roof rails give you a concrete configuration to price and inspect. It may be a sensible starting point if those features are priorities, subject to confirming final equipment, fees and availability.
That is a starting-point recommendation, not a claim that the X-Line is objectively better. You still need the exact EPA label, safety equipment, warranty terms, cargo measurements and dealer quote. If you do not need AWD, terrain-mode functionality or roof-mounted cargo capability, those features may not justify the additional price relative to a differently equipped Tucson or Sportage.
Choose a Tucson only after identifying an actual U.S. trim
The Tucson remains a valid vehicle to cross-shop, but the U.S. pages require you to select SE, SEL, SEL Plus, XRT, SEL Premium or Limited. The 187-hp 2.5-liter engine and the published FWD/AWD EPA estimates provide a baseline for that comparison. Decide which Tucson trim supplies the features you need, then compare its window sticker with the X-Line rather than using the $29,700 base price as a stand-in for a higher trim.
A practical shortlist might begin with the lowest Tucson trim that includes your must-have equipment, then move upward only when a specific feature is worth the added price. Write down those must-haves before visiting a dealer: drivetrain, seating or cargo needs, camera and parking aids, connectivity, roof-carrying plans and budget ceiling. This keeps the decision tied to use rather than to a badge.

Do not announce a winner from the headline figures alone
The available prices are different kinds of numbers, and the fuel-economy table covers the Tucson but not a matching Sportage X-Line configuration. Without equivalent equipment, dimensions, safety ratings, warranty terms and same-route driving impressions, a definitive winner would overstate the evidence.
The most defensible conclusion for a U.S. 2026 shopper is conditional: verify the X-Line’s current configuration, select a real Tucson trim and then compare like for like. If the market is not the United States or the model year is not 2026, restart the comparison with the local manufacturer pages.

Bottom line for this headline
In the United States for 2026, the evidence supports a Kia Sportage X-Line listing but not a Hyundai Tucson N Line listing. Start with the verified X-Line configuration or select a real Tucson trim, then compare matching window stickers, drivetrains, safety equipment, space, warranty and driving impressions. Until the market and model year are confirmed, there is no defensible trim-to-trim winner.
