The maximum advertised figure applies to the S, not the entire range. Hyundai cautions that actual range varies with options, driving conditions and habits, vehicle and battery condition, and battery and outside temperature. How to interpret a road-test result
In a Tom’s Guide review published August 24, 2025, reviewer John Velasco reported driving 413.6 miles and averaging 3 miles per kWh during that test. That is one reviewer’s result in specific conditions, not an EPA rating or a prediction of typical owner range. The IONIQ 9 is a three-row SUV. Hyundai’s S-trim listing specifies seating for seven with a second-row bench, while the company’s launch announcement describes the vehicle as a three-row all-electric SUV with expansive interior space. Velasco’s tested configuration had second-row captain’s chairs, whose recline and footrest he praised for comfort. He described the third row as tight and the cabin as quiet. Those are observations about his test vehicle and experience, not a guarantee about every trim or passenger’s comfort. Anyone expecting to use all three rows regularly should inspect and sit in the specific seating configuration before buying.

- Range: Use the estimate for the specific trim, rather than assuming every IONIQ 9 reaches the S trim’s maximum.
