The 2026 Ford Mustang RTR is a factory-developed package for the EcoBoost Fastback—not a separate V8 model. It keeps the standard 2.3-liter turbo-four and adds anti-lag, GT Performance Pack brakes, selected Dark Horse chassis parts, drift-oriented equipment and RTR styling. Ford and RTR announced it on October 15, 2025, with deliveries originally planned for summer 2026; that schedule does not confirm a particular dealer’s inventory or a current delivery date.
What the 2026 Mustang RTR package is
Ford describes the RTR as a factory-built performance package developed with RTR Vehicles. It is based on the EcoBoost Fastback and combines the standard EcoBoost engine with parts and tuning drawn from other Mustang versions, plus RTR-specific equipment and design details. Ford’s product page describes the package as exclusive to the EcoBoost Fastback.
The October 2025 launch announcement listed two eligible configurations: the base EcoBoost with the High package and EcoBoost Premium. Check a current Ford order guide or dealer for live ordering status and configuration details; the announcement’s planned summer 2026 deliveries are a launch schedule, not confirmation of availability at a specific dealership.
Engine and anti-lag
Standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost
The RTR retains the Mustang’s standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with a twin-scroll turbocharger. Ford lists 350 lb-ft of torque. The announcement does not establish a package-specific horsepower figure, acceleration time or fuel-economy rating.

How Ford says anti-lag works
Ford says the standard anti-lag system uses race-derived, patented technology from the Le Mans-winning Ford GT to keep the turbo ready to deliver boost during intense driving. The stated aim is sharper throttle response. That is Ford’s description of the system and its purpose, not a measured response-time result; the launch materials provide no independent performance test.
Brakes, chassis and steering hardware
The package borrows equipment from the Mustang GT Performance Pack and Dark Horse. Ford’s published specifications identify the following parts and features:

Drift brake, exhaust and optional MagneRide
An Electronic Drift Brake is standard. Ford also lists an active-valve performance exhaust with four driver-selectable modes. Available MagneRide dampers receive an RTR-specific calibration, but MagneRide is optional rather than standard equipment.

What Ford has not established
The cited launch and product materials do not establish an exact RTR package price, package-specific EPA fuel-economy rating, acceleration time, independent road-test results or verified current dealer inventory. They also do not support treating an informal online price claim as confirmed. For a live quote or order, ask a Ford dealer to confirm the configuration, current availability and pricing.
Ford and RTR representatives used promotional language to describe the car. Mustang Chief Engineer Laurie Transou called it an effort to create an exciting turbocharged Mustang, while RTR founder Vaughn Gittin Jr. described it as a factory-built performance model. Those statements express the companies’ ambitions, not independent findings about performance.
