The 2026 Ford F-350 is a configurable Super Duty, not a single set of specifications: trim, engine, cab, bed, drivetrain, rear-wheel setup and axle ratio all affect the truck you get. Ford lists five trims and four engine choices, while its headline towing and payload figures describe maximums across the broader Super Duty range—not a rating that applies to every F-350.
2026 Ford F-350 trims and starting prices
Ford lists five F-350 trims. Ford’s pricing page listed these starting prices in August 2026; a configured truck’s price, fees and availability can differ.
| Trim | Ford starting price | Positioning |
|---|---|---|
| XL | $47,270 | Entry trim for work-focused buyers |
| XLT | $50,475 | More equipment than XL; available with all four listed engines |
| Lariat | $64,335 | Higher trim with a more comfort-focused approach |
| King Ranch | $79,375 | Higher trim with distinct styling and equipment |
| Platinum | $80,265 | Top-tier trim in Ford’s listed F-350 lineup |
Those prices and trim names are for the F-350. Ford’s broader Super Duty model page also covers F-250 and F-450; their prices and equipment should not be inferred from the F-350 figures. Check the selected truck’s exact package and equipment before comparing trims. Ford’s 2026 Super Duty lineup.
Which engines are available in the 2026 F-350?
Ford lists four V8 choices: two gasoline engines and two 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel versions. The 6.8-liter gas V8 is standard on the F-350 XLT; Ford lists the other three engines as available there. Availability can vary by trim and configuration, so verify the build you are considering.

| Engine | Published output | Published peak speed |
|---|---|---|
| 6.8L gas V8 | 405 hp and 445 lb-ft | 5,000 rpm horsepower; 4,000 rpm torque |
| 7.3L gas V8 | 430 hp and 485 lb-ft | 5,500 rpm horsepower; 4,000 rpm torque |
| 6.7L Power Stroke diesel | 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft | 2,600 rpm horsepower; 1,600 rpm torque |
| 6.7L High Output Power Stroke diesel | 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft | 2,600 rpm horsepower; 1,600 rpm torque |
These are Ford-published engine specifications in its 2025 towing guide for the 2026 model year. Ford notes that horsepower and torque are independent attributes and may not be achieved simultaneously. Ford’s F-350 XLT details and the 2026 Super Duty towing guide.
Gas or diesel?
Choose based on the work the truck will actually do and the ratings of the specific configuration, not output alone. The gas V8s provide two different output levels; the diesel engines publish substantially higher torque figures. That does not establish that every diesel F-350 can tow more than every gas F-350: cab, bed, drivetrain, axle ratio, rear-wheel setup, equipment and hitch type all affect the applicable rating. Ford’s published specifications do not establish real-world fuel economy or comparative operating costs.

Cab, bed, drivetrain and rear wheels
Ford offers the F-350 in Regular Cab, SuperCab and Crew Cab. Regular Cab is paired with an 8-foot bed; SuperCab and Crew Cab are offered with 6.75-foot or 8-foot beds. Confirm that the desired combination is offered with the trim, engine and drivetrain you want.
- Regular Cab: paired with the 8-foot bed.
- SuperCab: offered with a 6.75-foot or 8-foot bed.
- Crew Cab: offered with a 6.75-foot or 8-foot bed.
The truck is available with single rear wheels (SRW) or dual rear wheels (DRW), as well as 4×2 or 4×4 configurations. DRW is aimed at heavier towing and hauling, but the right comparison depends on the exact builds and their ratings. Ford notes that the F-450 generally offers greater towing capacity, particularly for fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers, while certain F-350 DRW gas configurations can offer greater payload. How much can a 2026 F-350 tow?
There is no responsible single maximum that applies to every 2026 F-350. Ford’s 2026 towing guide publishes maximum available figures for the broader Super Duty range by engine; they are not guaranteed ratings for a particular F-350. Some maxima require specified equipment, and the applicable F-350 rating depends on the vehicle configuration and towing method.
| Engine | Super Duty range maximum available towing | Super Duty range maximum available payload |
|---|---|---|
| 6.8L gas V8 | 18,900 lb | 8,000 lb |
| 7.3L gas V8 | 22,500 lb | 7,635 lb |
| 6.7L Power Stroke diesel | 38,600 lb | 6,952 lb |
| 6.7L High Output Power Stroke diesel | 40,000 lb | 6,935 lb |
These are Ford’s maximum available figures for the broader 2026 Super Duty range, not a promise for a particular F-350. Ford separately advertises up to 40,000 lb of gooseneck towing and up to 8,000 lb of payload across the Super Duty lineup; neither headline establishes that an individual F-350 reaches either figure. Ford cautions: “Towing capability will vary based on trim series, option content and payload.” Its guide also says maximum towing “varies and is based on cargo, vehicle configuration, accessories and number of passengers.” Ford’s towing guide and Super Duty lineup page.

Find the rating for the truck you are buying
- Identify the exact F-350 cab, bed, engine, drivetrain (4×2 or 4×4), SRW or DRW setup and axle ratio.
- Identify whether the trailer will be connected conventionally or by fifth-wheel/gooseneck, then use the corresponding row in Ford’s F-350 towing tables.
- Check the truck’s actual payload label and account for passengers, cargo, accessories and the trailer’s tongue or pin load.
- Confirm that the loaded truck and trailer remain within the applicable ratings, including the listed gross combined weight rating (GCWR). Consult Ford’s latest towing guide and “Spec’ing F-Series Trucks for Towing” job aid before final selection.
Ford’s 2026 Super Duty Pickup Towing Information separates conventional from fifth-wheel/gooseneck ratings and lists F-350 values by cab, bed, drivetrain, engine and axle ratio. Its F-350 technical specifications provide the detailed tables and warn that payload must accommodate trailer tongue or pin load. A fifth-wheel hitch must match the truck’s cab, bed and frame, as well as the trailer and installation, and must be rated for the load. Installing a hitch does not raise the truck’s rating.

- For a work truck: compare XL and XLT against the equipment you need, then check the exact package and engine availability.
- For more passenger space: compare SuperCab and Crew Cab, remembering that the bed choice may affect fitment and ratings.
- For frequent heavy towing: compare SRW and DRW versions using the correct Ford table row and the trailer’s loaded weight and tongue or pin load.
- For fifth-wheel or gooseneck use: check the dedicated rating, hitch compatibility and truck payload; do not substitute a conventional-towing maximum.
- For trim-focused comfort or finish: compare Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum equipment on the actual build rather than assuming every feature is standard across the trim.
Ford’s published information establishes specifications and ratings, not independent real-world fuel economy, ride quality, reliability or instrumented towing performance.
