The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is a rear-wheel-drive sports car powered by a naturally aspirated 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 rated at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet also revealed the Grand Sport X, which adds a front electric motor and all-wheel drive. The standard Grand Sport starts at $86,000 on Chevrolet’s U.S. product page; pricing and ordering details can change.
What Chevrolet revealed for 2027
Chevrolet announced the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X on March 26, 2026. The standard Grand Sport is the rear-wheel-drive version. The Grand Sport X keeps the LS6 V-8 and adds a front-axle electric motor and compact battery for electric all-wheel drive.
Chevrolet attributes 721 horsepower to the Grand Sport X: 535 hp from the V-8 and 186 hp from its electric drive unit. That makes the X a distinct drivetrain choice, not simply an equipment package for the rear-drive Grand Sport. Chevrolet’s reveal announcement covers both models.
What the new LS6 V-8 delivers
The naturally aspirated 6.7-liter LS6 is rated by GM at 535 hp at 6,100 rpm and 520 lb-ft of torque at 4,600 rpm. It is not supercharged. Chevrolet describes it as the start of the sixth generation of the Small Block V-8.

The engine displaces 409 cubic inches and uses a 13.0:1 compression ratio, a 95 mm throttle body and a tunnel-ram intake. GM says its 100 mm stroke—up from 92 mm in the prior LT2, with the 103.25 mm bore retained—helps produce the larger displacement. The engine also uses direct and port fuel delivery, Active Fuel Management, forged pistons and rods, revised exhaust manifolds and a new lubrication system. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to the wheels. See GM News’ LS6 technical details.
How the Grand Sport and Grand Sport X differ
| Model | Powertrain | Drive | Manufacturer-stated output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Sport | 6.7-liter naturally aspirated LS6 V-8 | Rear-wheel drive | 535 hp; 520 lb-ft |
| Grand Sport X | 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 plus front electric drive unit | Electric all-wheel drive | 721 hp total: 535 hp from the V-8 and 186 hp from the electric drive unit |
These are Chevrolet-published specifications, not independent test results. The X’s extra traction and power come with a different, electrified drivetrain; buyers who want the conventional rear-drive configuration should look specifically for the Grand Sport.

Which suspension, tire and brake setup fits your use?
Chevrolet offers three equipment levels that change the car’s tires and track hardware. The standard setup is the least track-specialized; the Z52 options progressively add summer tires, stronger brakes and more track-focused chassis or aerodynamic parts. Chevrolet’s package announcement lists the components.
| Setup | Suspension and chassis | Tires | Brakes and other hardware |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Touring Suspension with Magnetic Ride Control | Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 | Standard configuration |
| Z52 Sport Performance | Stiffer suspension tuning | Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires | J56 iron brakes borrowed from the Z06 |
| Z52 Track Performance | Track-focused chassis tuning | Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R | J57 carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon-fiber aerodynamic components and underbody strakes |
The Sport Performance package is the intermediate choice for buyers seeking a more aggressive road-and-track setup; Track Performance is the most track-focused of the three. Chevrolet warns that summer-only tires are not for winter conditions and recommends GM-approved tire-and-wheel combinations. The announcement does not specify tire sizes, so confirm the size and approved fitment for the individual car before buying replacement tires.

Chevrolet’s acceleration, fuel-economy and price figures
Chevrolet publishes a 0–60 mph time of 2.75 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 10.95 seconds at 124 mph for the Grand Sport. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent instrumented test results. Chevrolet also lists EPA-estimated fuel economy of 15 mpg city, 23 highway and 17 combined. The estimates are not a guarantee of real-world consumption.
As of October 7, 2026, Chevrolet’s U.S. consumer product page displayed a starting price of $86,000. Treat that as a time-sensitive listed starting price, not a guarantee of a particular configuration’s transaction price; check Chevrolet’s live Corvette page for current pricing and ordering details.

Where the Grand Sport fits in Corvette history
The Grand Sport name has marked several different Corvettes, rather than one continuous specification. Chevrolet says the original C2 race-car run consisted of five cars. The name returned on the 1996 C4 as a one-year special limited to 1,000 cars, with a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter LT4 and ZR1 chassis upgrades. The C6 Grand Sport ran from 2010 to 2013, pairing the LS3 with wider bodywork, larger brakes and other Z06-derived upgrades. The C7 ran from 2017 to 2019, combining a 460-hp naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT1 with wider bodywork and other Z06 components.
The recurring idea has been to combine a base Corvette engine with more capable chassis or body hardware, though the details differ by generation. Chevrolet’s account of the name’s history and the Sebring reunion is available in its Sebring heritage release.
