What is new on the 2026 Explorer?
The principal model-year addition is the Tremor, an off-road-oriented trim. Ford lists an off-road-tuned suspension, increased ride height and underbody protection; the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 is available. Ford also lists an available panoramic fixed glass roof, and says equipped BlueCruise models include Automatic Lane Change. Check the build tool and order guide for availability on the exact trim and configuration.
Engines, power and drivetrain
Most trims use a 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. The ST has a 3.0L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, which is also offered on the Tremor. Ford lists the ST at 385 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. See Ford’s 2026 Explorer ST page.

- Brand new box. Real rubber tires. True-to-scale detail. Has opening front doors. Detailed interior, exterior. Officially licensed product. Manufacturer's original unopened packaging. Made of diecast metal with some plastic parts. Dimensions approximately L-8, W-3.75, H-3 inches.
Rear-wheel drive is standard with the 2.3L engine. Intelligent 4WD is available, standard on the Tremor with the 3.0L V6, and available on the ST. Because drivetrain availability can depend on trim and engine, confirm the exact combination in Ford’s build tool.
Seating, cargo and towing
- Seating: The three-row Explorer seats six or seven, depending on trim and seating configuration. Second-row captain’s chairs are standard except on ST-Line, which has a standard bench. Tremor is limited to six seats.
- Cargo: Ford lists 16.3 cu ft behind the third row. Maximum cargo volume is 85.8 cu ft for Active 100A, Active and ST-Line, and 85.3 cu ft for Tremor, Platinum and ST.
- Towing: Ford lists a maximum capacity of 5,000 lb and says every 2026 Explorer includes the Class III Trailer Tow Package. Maximum capacity is not a guarantee that every load or configuration can tow that amount; check the vehicle’s equipment and towing requirements.
These are figures from Ford’s 2026 Explorer model page, not independently measured results.

These are the lineup’s entry and comfort-focused choices. Ford lists both with the 2.3L engine configuration; compare the build tool and order guide for equipment differences between the two.
ST-Line
ST-Line adds blacked-out styling and equipment. Its standard second-row bench distinguishes its seating layout from trims with standard captain’s chairs.

Ford’s 2026 Explorer model page includes images for Active 100A, Active, ST-Line, Tremor, Platinum and ST, along with a 360-degree viewer and paint-color selections. Use the trim-specific imagery to compare appearance, and check Ford’s configuration details for whether a shown color or feature is standard or an extra-cost option.
How to check the price of the Explorer you want
- Open Ford’s Build & Price page and select the trim.
- Choose the engine, drivetrain, seating and options available for that trim; the displayed starting price is not the price of this completed configuration.
- Check local inventory and incentives, then confirm the build and final price with a dealer. Availability and offers can vary by location.
If considering accessories such as roof-rail crossbars, confirm fitment for the precise vehicle and trim before buying. Ford’s order guide lists crossbars as an optional accessory; it does not establish fitment for a particular third-party listing.
