The 2026 Ducati DesertX V2 is a redesigned adventure motorcycle built around an 890 cc V2 engine and a monocoque frame. Its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tubeless spoked wheels, adjustable long-travel KYB suspension, and Enduro and Rally riding modes support Ducati’s off-road focus. Those are manufacturer specifications and design claims, not proof from an independent ride test that the new bike is more capable or more fun than its predecessor or a rival.
What changed on the 2026 Ducati DesertX?
Ducati announced the second-generation DesertX on 25 February 2026, describing it as “completely redesigned around the new V2 engine and monocoque frame.” That is the manufacturer’s characterization of the redesign. The key engine and weight figures Ducati publishes for the new model differ from those on its prior-generation 937 cc specification page:
| Specification | 2026 DesertX V2 | Prior-generation DesertX |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 890 cc V2, according to Ducati’s 2026 US specification page | 937 cc Testastretta 11°, according to Ducati’s prior-generation US specification page |
| Maximum power | 110.3 hp at 9,000 rpm, Ducati-published | 110 hp, Ducati-published; the cited page does not state an rpm figure |
| Maximum torque | 92 Nm at 7,000 rpm, Ducati-published | 92 Nm, Ducati-published; the cited page does not state an rpm figure |
| Wet weight without fuel | 209 kg (461 lb), Ducati-published | 210 kg, Ducati-published |
| Redesign description | Ducati says the bike is redesigned around the V2 engine and monocoque frame | Not stated on the cited prior-generation specification page |
These are figures from Ducati’s US pages for different model generations; they are not an independent, same-condition test, and specification-market differences may apply. What supports the DesertX’s off-road positioning?
Ducati’s published equipment combines off-road-oriented wheel sizes, suspension travel and adjustment, chassis design, and selectable electronics. These details explain the intended use; they do not establish how the motorcycle handles in real-world conditions.

Wheels and tires
The 2026 US specification lists tubeless spoked wheels measuring 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. Ducati lists Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires in 90/90-21 front and 150/70 R18 rear sizes. Those tire sizes can help narrow a replacement search, but confirm the exact construction, load and speed ratings, model-year fitment, and local listing before purchase.
Suspension and travel
Ducati lists a fully adjustable 46 mm KYB front fork and a fully adjustable KYB rear shock with remote preload adjustment and progressive linkage. Published wheel travel is 230 mm at the front and 220 mm at the rear. Adjustment and travel are relevant equipment specifications, not a substitute for a ride assessment.

The official 2026 material describes six riding modes, including Enduro and Rally, plus a 6-axis inertial platform and adjustable electronic controls. Ducati presents these as support for off-road riding; the cited pages do not provide an independent assessment of their effectiveness or of how easy the bike is for a novice to manage.
How heavy is the new DesertX, and how tall is the seat?
Ducati lists the 2026 DesertX at 209 kg (461 lb) wet without fuel and gives a standard seat height of 880 mm (34.6 in). These are manufacturer figures, not independently measured values. The US page also shows high-seat, low-seat, and low-seat-with-low-suspension-kit configurations. Check the local model page and confirm the exact configuration with a dealer before deciding whether the height or weight suits you.

Is the 2026 Ducati DesertX good off-road?
The published hardware supports calling the DesertX off-road-focused: it has 21/18-inch tubeless spoked wheels, adjustable KYB suspension with substantial stated travel, Enduro and Rally modes, and an engine-and-frame redesign Ducati says was developed with off-road use in mind. The manufacturer says field testing informed the new model and describes its aim as more natural control and greater usability. Those statements are Ducati’s claims, not third-party findings.
The cited official pages do not establish handling quality on particular terrain, long-term reliability, novice-friendliness, or superiority over competing motorcycles. An independent ride test would be needed to assess those outcomes; specifications alone cannot show whether the bike is objectively more fun.

What to verify before buying or fitting accessories
- Check the seat-height configuration and any low-suspension kit on the exact motorcycle you are considering.
- For replacement tires, match the specified size and verify construction, load and speed rating, and fitment for your market and model year.
- Do not assume accessories listed for the preceding 937 cc DesertX fit the redesigned 2026 model. Ducati’s prior-generation page documents items such as reinforced hand guards, protection grilles, and side cases; confirm new-generation compatibility with a dealer.
