Dodge reopened orders for the 3.6-liter V-6 GT in November 2025 after first announcing an all-HEMI lineup. As of October 7, 2026, Dodge’s product page lists the V-6 GT alongside HEMI-powered GT, R/T 392 and SRT Hellcat versions.
What changed in the 2026 Durango lineup?
Dodge’s plans shifted over several announcements. In May 2025, it described a V-6 GT and a 5.7-liter HEMI R/T. On August 8, Dodge said orders placed from August 13 would make a HEMI V-8 standard across the lineup: a 5.7-liter GT, a 6.4-liter R/T and a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat. That was not the final order mix. In November 2025, Dodge reopened retail orders for the V-6 GT, citing customer demand and the need to ramp up HEMI supply. In March 2026, it announced the R/T 392 Launch Edition, adding a 6.4-liter HEMI model to the lineup.
That chronology matters: the V-6 was briefly omitted from Dodge’s all-HEMI ordering announcement, then returned as a GT choice. The 392 is an additional performance model, not a replacement for every other Durango engine.
Which 2026 Durango engines and prices does Dodge list?
The table uses starting prices shown on Dodge’s product page on October 7, 2026. Prices are U.S. starting MSRPs and can change; equipment and drivetrain vary by version.

The GT V-6 output and its $38,995 U.S. starting MSRP come from Dodge’s November 2025 release; Dodge listed optional AWD at an additional $2,000 at that time. The other starting prices are from Dodge’s product page as checked October 7, 2026. Engine outputs for the HEMI versions are manufacturer figures in Dodge/Stellantis materials.
What does the R/T 392 add?
The R/T 392 Launch Edition uses a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 rated by Stellantis at 475 hp and 470 lb-ft. In its March 24, 2026 announcement, Stellantis also claimed a 0–60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, an NHRA-certified quarter-mile time of 12.9 seconds and an 8,700-pound towing capacity for the edition. Those acceleration, quarter-mile and towing figures are manufacturer-published claims, not independent test results.

- Legendary Muscle Car: Features the iconic 1971 Dodge Hemi Charger R/T with authentic body details and styling.
- 1:25 Scale Precision: Accurately molded parts for a highly detailed and lifelike model.
- Customizable Build: Includes decals, engine components, and optional parts for creative assembly.
- Skill Level 2 Kit: Ideal for hobbyists seeking an engaging and rewarding build project.
- Display-Ready: Perfect for collectors and muscle car enthusiasts to showcase.
The 392-cubic-inch name refers to the engine’s displacement; Dodge gives the metric equivalent as 6.4 liters. It sits between the 360-hp 5.7-liter GT HEMI and the 710-hp supercharged Hellcat in output, though those figures alone do not establish comparative real-world performance.
Can a 2026 Durango tow 8,700 pounds?
Some can, but 8,700 pounds is not a universal rating for every 2026 Durango. Dodge lists that maximum for GT HEMI models equipped with Tow ’n Go and for SRT Hellcat models; Stellantis also gives the figure for the R/T 392 Launch Edition. The exact vehicle’s configuration and equipment determine its rating.

Why did Dodge bring the V-6 back?
Dodge said it reopened orders for the V-6 GT to help meet Durango demand while HEMI engine supply ramped up. In the November 2025 release, Dodge CEO Matt McAlear said: “The HEMI is hot, Durango recently achieved its best Q3 sales in 20 years, and to keep that sales momentum going, we’re re-opening orders for the V-6 Durango GT to help us meet Durango demand while supply of HEMI engines ramps up.” This is Dodge’s explanation for the decision, not an independent analysis of sales or supply.
