The announced 2026 electrified, all-wheel-drive Corvette is the ZR1X, rated at 1,250 combined horsepower. That output comes from its V8 and front electric drive unit—not from a confirmed Zora, and not from the V8 alone.
How much horsepower does the 2026 Corvette Zora have?
There is no official horsepower figure for a 2026 Corvette Zora because Chevrolet has not confirmed that it will sell a Corvette under that name. Chevrolet’s current lineup comparison lists the Stingray, E-Ray, Z06, ZR1 and ZR1X, but not Zora: Chevrolet’s Corvette lineup comparison.
The figure often attached to this question is 1,250 horsepower. That is Chevrolet’s rating for the 2026 Corvette ZR1X’s combined powertrain output. Chevrolet announced the ZR1X on June 17, 2025, as an electrified all-wheel-drive Corvette: Chevrolet’s ZR1X announcement. The name matters: the confirmed 1,250-hp car is the ZR1X, not an officially announced Zora.
What produces the ZR1X’s 1,250 horsepower?
The ZR1X combines a rear-mounted, twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter LT7 V8 with an electric drive unit on the front axle. Chevrolet rates the V8 at 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque; the front motor is rated at 186 hp and 145 lb-ft. The V8 drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the electric unit drives the front wheels. Chevrolet describes the resulting 1,250 hp as combined output, not as the V8’s rating. See the powertrain specifications in Chevrolet’s announcement.

| ZR1X powertrain component | Published output | Role |
|---|---|---|
| LT7 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 | 1,064 hp; 828 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm | Drives the rear wheels |
| Front-axle electric drive unit | 186 hp; 145 lb-ft | Drives the front axle |
| Combined ZR1X system | 1,250 hp | Electrified all-wheel drive |
The ZR1X’s V8 figure is also the published LT7 output for the ZR1. Chevrolet’s July 2024 ZR1 announcement specifies 1,064 hp at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm for that engine: Chevrolet’s ZR1 announcement. The ZR1X adds front electric drive; its total system rating is therefore a different measure from the V8’s engine-only output.
What the ZR1X’s other performance details tell us
GM News describes three power-delivery strategies for the ZR1X: Endurance, Qualifying and Push-to-Pass. It also says the front motor’s disconnect speed is 160 mph, compared with 150 mph on the E-Ray. The standard J59 brake package uses 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors at all four corners, with 10-piston front and six-piston rear calipers. These are ZR1X details, not specifications for a Zora. How quick is the ZR1X?
Chevrolet reported that the ZR1X completed 0–60 mph in 1.68 seconds and the quarter mile in 8.675 seconds at 159 mph. Those were manufacturer-reported results from October 2025 testing on a prepped surface, not a Zora performance claim. Chevrolet’s January 13, 2026 release also says ZR1X production began in December 2025 at Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky: Chevrolet’s ZR1X performance release.

The official sources cited here do not establish that Chevrolet will sell a Corvette named Zora. They provide no Zora-specific horsepower, price, production schedule or launch date. Chevrolet vice president Scott Bell described the ZR1 as “about pushing the envelope with raw power and cutting-edge innovation” in the automaker’s July 25, 2024 announcement. That statement is about the ZR1; it does not announce a Zora. Likewise, GM News’ July 3, 2025 line, “The 2026 Corvette ZR1X packs 1,250 horsepower,” refers to the ZR1X’s combined V8-and-electric output.
