What changes in the 2026 North American lineup?
In its August 25, 2025 North American announcement, CLAAS of America said the wheeled and TERRA TRAC versions of the LEXION 8500 replace the prior-year 8600 at the entry end of the wide-body 8000 lineup. The 8500 retains the previous 8600’s 506 rated horsepower and 549 maximum horsepower. The 8600 and 8700 gain power, while the 8900 TERRA TRAC remains the top model.

CLAAS of America’s figures below are North American specifications. Rated and maximum horsepower are distinct measures; the release does not provide a rated/max pair for the 2026 8600 or 8700 in the cited information.

CLAAS’s Europe-facing announcement uses a different model specification table, including MAN engine designations and metric grain capacities. Its horsepower and capacity details should not be mixed with this North American lineup. For example, the European release lists the 8500 with a MAN D26 engine and 549 hp, whereas CLAAS of America gives the North American 8500 as 506 rated / 549 max hp. Check the applicable regional specification sheet and machine build.

How much grain can the 2026 LEXION 8000 hold?
CLAAS says a 510-bushel grain tank is available on all North American 8000-series models. “Available” matters: the announcement does not establish that every machine is equipped with that tank as standard. Match tank size to unloading equipment, cart capacity, field logistics and the specific combine configuration rather than assuming the largest stated capacity is included on a particular build.
What is new in the cab?
CLAAS describes the refreshed cockpit as quieter and roomier, with additional storage and revised materials. The manufacturer also identifies a Professional operator package with a heated and cooled swiveling leather seat, side-window shades and a radio system featuring Apple CarPlay, Android Audio and a subwoofer. These package details should not be read as standard equipment on every 2026 LEXION 8000.
The European model-year announcement describes a 6.75-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, DAB+ and Bluetooth. Because that is a Europe-facing specification, buyers in North America should verify which infotainment equipment and package names apply to their market and selected build.

CLAAS highlights premium LED lighting packages for night work. The cited announcement does not provide a quantified visibility range or a field-test comparison. Review the available lighting and camera equipment for the intended operating conditions and confirm what is included on the quoted machine.

CLAAS connect and CEMOS
CLAAS says CLAAS connect packages provide steering, mapping and machine-management capabilities. Its current LEXION product page also describes CEMOS optimization functions. Those are manufacturer-described features; the available sources do not establish independent productivity, fuel-saving or yield outcomes for the 2026 refresh. Ask the dealer which functions, subscriptions, hardware and setup are included for the specific market and machine.

The lineup update changes the model names and power positions, but the right configuration depends on the work and equipment around the combine. Compare these items on the dealer’s build sheet:

- Model and horsepower: Confirm market-specific rated and maximum figures, particularly for the 8600 and 8700, whose exact revised figures are not stated in the North American announcement.
- Tank and unloading plan: Verify whether the 510-bushel tank is fitted and whether unloading capacity and grain-cart logistics suit the operation.
- Running gear: Compare wheeled and TERRA TRAC configurations where both are offered; the 8900 is identified as TERRA TRAC in the North American release.
- Cab equipment: Separate standard equipment from the Professional operator package and other options, and verify regional infotainment specifications.
- Night-work visibility: Identify the selected LED lighting package and any camera equipment on the actual configuration.
- Digital functions: Confirm the CLAAS connect package, steering and mapping capabilities, and CEMOS functions available with the machine.
CLAAS of America framed the update as ongoing product improvement. Dennis Ogle, the company’s Head of Sales SPH, said, “Just like the producers we serve, we’re focused on continuous improvement,” and described operator comfort as a priority for long hours in the seat. Those comments are the manufacturer’s rationale for the refresh, not independent evidence of reduced fatigue or improved field performance.
