The Chevrolet Equinox starts lower, while Nissan’s 2026.5 Rogue comparison claims more power, better maximum fuel economy and more cargo room behind the second row. The comparison is not perfectly year-matched: Nissan compares its 2026.5 Rogue with a 2026 Equinox, so treat the figures below as manufacturer-published reference points and verify the exact trim, drivetrain and current local price before deciding.
At a glance: Equinox vs. Rogue
Nissan’s U.S. comparison page, accessed October 8, 2026, compares the 2026.5 Rogue with the 2026 Equinox. Its figures are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.
| Published comparison figure | 2026.5 Nissan Rogue | 2026 Chevrolet Equinox |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $29,490 | $28,800 |
| Engine output | 201 hp; 225 lb-ft of torque | 175 hp; 184 lb-ft of torque |

| Maximum towing | 1,500 lb | 1,500 lb |
These are Nissan’s comparison-page figures, accessed October 8, 2026. Starting prices are not matched-trim quotes or transaction prices, and the fuel-economy figures are maximums rather than guarantees for every configuration. Nissan’s Rogue comparison provides the paired figures.
Which one is cheaper?
On Nissan’s comparison page, the 2026.5 Rogue starts at $29,490 and the 2026 Equinox at $28,800—a $690 difference in the listed starting prices. That comparison does not establish which SUV costs less when equipped similarly, nor what a dealer will charge.

For AWD context, Chevrolet announced in September 2026 that the 2026 Equinox LT AWD starts at $32,795, with AWD adding $2,000 to each trim’s MSRP. Treat that as Chevrolet’s announced MSRP, not a dealer quote. The Rogue comparison lists AWD as available, but the cited starting prices are not a matched AWD comparison. Check the selected trim’s current build page and a local quote before comparing totals. Chevrolet’s September 2026 Equinox AWD announcement has the announced price details.
Which has more power?
Nissan’s comparison lists the Rogue at 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque, versus 175 hp and 184 lb-ft for the Equinox. Those are published engine-output figures; they do not establish which SUV accelerates faster in a controlled comparison. No matched independent acceleration test is established by the cited sources.

Which gets better gas mileage?
Nissan’s comparison page lists up to 29 city/36 highway MPG for the 2026.5 Rogue and up to 26/29 MPG for the 2026 Equinox. “Up to” matters: mileage varies by trim and drivetrain, so these top-line figures should not be treated as the rating for every vehicle.
Nissan’s 2026 Rogue brochure, published in 2025, gives configuration-specific EPA estimates for the 2026 model: S and SV FWD at 29/36/32 MPG city/highway/combined; S and SV AWD at 28/35/31; Rock Creek AWD at 27/32/29; and Platinum AWD at 28/35/31. This is brochure information for the 2026 Rogue, not necessarily the same specification as the 2026.5 comparison. Nissan’s 2026 Rogue brochure lists those estimates.

Chevrolet’s separate fuel-economy page lists the 2026 Equinox at 22 city/29 highway MPG. That differs from the comparison page’s “up to 26/29” figure; the cited pages do not establish that they describe the same trim and drivetrain. Confirm the exact EPA label for the Equinox configuration you are shopping rather than blending the figures. Chevrolet’s 2026 Equinox fuel-economy page shows its published figure.
Which has more cargo space?
For space with the second row in use, Nissan’s comparison lists 36.5 cu. ft. behind the Rogue’s second row and 29.8 cu. ft. behind the Equinox’s. On those published figures, the Rogue offers more listed cargo volume in this seating configuration.

Chevrolet separately lists up to 63.5 cu. ft. of maximum cargo volume for the 2026 Equinox with seats folded. That is a different configuration from the behind-second-row comparison, so it should not be used as a direct substitute for the 29.8-cu.-ft. figure. Chevrolet’s 2026 Equinox model page lists maximum cargo volume.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do entry trims compare?
Chevrolet’s trim comparison sets the 2026 Equinox LT against the 2026 Rogue S. Chevrolet marks heated front seats, heated outside mirrors and a heated steering wheel as standard on the LT and unavailable on the Rogue S. It also marks the Equinox’s available rear camera mirror, HD Surround Vision and fog lamps as unavailable on the Rogue S. This is Chevrolet’s own trim-to-trim comparison; equipment and availability can vary by configuration. Chevrolet’s vehicle comparison page presents those equipment claims.
Best Value
- Officially Licensed Replica – Authentic styling and branding from the original manufacturer
- Die-Cast Metal Construction – Durable metal body with detailed plastic components
- Highly Detailed Design – Realistic exterior styling and interior details
- Free-Rolling Wheels – Smooth movement for display or play
- Perfect for Collectors & Kids – Great gift for automotive fans
Use the specific build sheets, not only trim names, when comparing comfort or driver-assistance equipment. A feature marked standard or unavailable in a manufacturer comparison does not by itself settle the value question if the vehicles’ prices and selected configurations differ.
AWD and towing
Both models are represented as offering all-wheel drive, with availability depending on trim. Nissan’s comparison lists maximum towing at 1,500 lb for each. These headline figures do not establish that every trim is AWD-capable or suitable for every trailer; confirm the configuration’s towing guidance and equipment with the manufacturer before towing.
Which should you choose?
- Look first at the Rogue if the published comparison’s higher output, larger behind-second-row cargo figure or higher maximum MPG figures align with your priorities. Confirm ratings for the exact drivetrain and trim.
- Look first at the Equinox if its lower listed starting price or the LT’s cited standard heated features matter more to you. Compare an equivalent configuration and current dealer quote before treating the base-price gap as your actual savings.
- Make the final call by configuration: compare the same model year as closely as possible, trim, drivetrain, included equipment, EPA label, cargo measurement with the same seats up or folded, and out-the-door price.
The available manufacturer information does not establish a universal winner for reliability, real-world fuel use, long-term ownership cost, actual transaction price or comparative driving dynamics. Those questions need independent evidence or direct evaluation beyond the published specifications here.
