The clearest documented safety concern for some Dodge Hornets is a brake pedal that may collapse while braking. Beyond that, owner reports mention electrical and infotainment-related issues, but complaint counts and forum posts do not show how often a problem occurs across the full vehicle population. Check any Hornet by VIN for open recalls, and assess a used example using its service records and condition rather than online anecdotes alone.
Which Dodge Hornet problems are officially documented?
Brake pedal assembly recall: 24V-752
Chrysler’s Part 573 safety recall report, filed with NHTSA on October 15, 2024, says the brake pedal assembly in certain 2024–2025 Dodge Hornets “may collapse while braking.” The campaign lists 21,069 potentially involved vehicles across the campaign and 17,047 affected Hornets. The suspect production period ran from July 20, 2023, through September 26, 2024. These figures describe vehicles included in the recall, not the number known to have suffered a failure. Read the NHTSA recall report.
Separate PHEV brake recall: 25V846
A separate NHTSA notice issued December 11, 2025, covers certain 2024 Dodge Hornet plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). It says, “The brake pedal may collapse and cause a loss of brake function,” and describes free dealer reinforcement of the pedal arm as the remedy. The notice lists 5,974 potentially affected vehicles across the campaign, which includes both Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEVs; that is not a Hornet-only total. The notice anticipated owner letters beginning January 13, 2026, but an anticipated mailing date does not establish whether a particular owner was notified. Read the NHTSA notice.
What do owners report beyond the recalls?
A third-party page displayed 51 NHTSA complaints for 2023–2025 Hornets in a snapshot accessed October 8, 2026; its summary listed electrical system most often, with 17 reports. This is a changing count of submitted complaints, not a failure rate, reliability score, or confirmation of a shared electrical defect. It cannot establish how common an issue is without context such as the number of vehicles in service and how consistently owners report problems. See the complaint summary.

In an owner discussion titled around the question “Anyone else having multiple issues with their Hornet?”, individual contributors describe concerns involving batteries, the radio, lighting, and driver-assistance features. Those accounts show the kinds of issues some owners discuss; they are anecdotes, not representative data or proof of a cause. Read the owner discussion.
How to check a Hornet for an open recall
- Find the vehicle identification number (VIN), typically on the driver-side dashboard or door-jamb label, or in the registration and insurance documents.
- Enter the VIN in NHTSA’s recall lookup to see whether a recall is listed for that vehicle. Model year alone cannot confirm whether a particular Hornet is included.
- Contact a Dodge dealer to confirm any open campaign, the remedy status, and how to arrange service. The remedies described in the two brake notices are dealer actions; the 25V846 notice specifies reinforcement free of charge.
- If you believe a safety problem is occurring, NHTSA also provides channels for safety complaints and investigation information at its recall and safety resources.
How should used-Hornet buyers weigh reports?
Neither the complaint snapshot nor the owner discussion establishes a model-wide reliability rate, a worst model year, or a trim-by-trim pattern. For two used Hornets, compare the evidence tied to each car rather than assuming one is better or worse based on the volume of online posts.
