What changed on the 2026 C8 Corvette?
Chevrolet announced a redesigned cabin for the 2026 Stingray, E-Ray, Z06 and ZR1. The dashboard gains three screens: a 12.7-inch center display, a 14-inch driver information screen and a 6.6-inch auxiliary touchscreen to the left of the steering wheel. The console and drive-mode-selector location are revised, and a covered wireless charging pad is added. Interior colors, finishes and materials also change. An available electrochromic targa roof can switch among full, medium and low tint. Chevrolet also says the ZR1’s ZTK package receives 10-piston front and 6-piston rear calipers with carbon-ceramic discs.
What is new for the 2027 Corvette?
The headline mechanical change is the LS6 V8, announced for the 2027 Stingray, Grand Sport and Grand Sport X. Chevrolet rates the naturally aspirated 6.7-liter engine at 535 hp at 6,100 rpm and 520 lb-ft of torque at 4,600 rpm, with a 13.0:1 compression ratio. Chevrolet calls it the most powerful base engine offered in a Corvette. GM says the engine is assembled at Flint Engine Operations in Michigan using U.S.- and globally sourced parts. Chevrolet says the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission remains the power-routing context for the Grand Sport models. Other 2027 Stingray changes include a shorter 5.56:1 final drive and adjusted aerodynamics for Z51, plus a newly developed Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tire for that package. A center-exit exhaust also becomes available for the first time in the mid-engine Corvette generation. Chevrolet announces Pitch Gray Metallic alongside Admiral Blue Metallic, and an Asymmetrical Santorini Blue/Jet Black interior.
What does Chevrolet claim about 2027 Stingray performance?
Chevrolet reports that a 2027 Stingray 1LT without Z51 reached a validated 200 mph, recorded 0–60 mph in 2.8 seconds and completed the quarter-mile in 11.0 seconds at 124 mph. The company says a professional driver made the top-speed run on a closed course and explicitly warns, “Do not attempt.” These are manufacturer-published figures, not independent comparative test results. The 200-mph figure is a closed-course result, not guidance for public-road driving. Chevrolet’s cited report lists a $73,495 starting MSRP for the 2027 Stingray, excluding tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment; the dealer sets the final price. Confirm current pricing with a Chevrolet dealer before buying.
How is Grand Sport X different from Grand Sport?
The standard Grand Sport is rear-wheel drive and uses the LS6. Grand Sport X combines that rear V8 with a front electric motor and compact battery pack, creating an electric all-wheel-drive system. Chevrolet gives the X a combined output of 721 hp: 535 hp from the V8 and 186 hp from the eAWD unit. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified measurements. Chevrolet describes Stealth mode as allowing electric-only operation through 50 mph. Shuttle mode is for non-street use up to 23 mph; it should not be mistaken for an electric-only road-driving mode.
Which Grand Sport package and tires are intended for your use?
Chevrolet describes two available packages that change the Grand Sport’s hardware and intended use:

- Z52 Sport Performance: stiffer suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires and Z06 J56 iron brakes.
- Z52 Track Performance: carbon-ceramic J57 brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires and track-focused chassis tuning.
Summer tires are not appropriate for winter conditions. Chevrolet advises using GM-approved wheel-and-tire combinations. The Pilot Sport S 5 named for Stingray Z51 is a package-specific fitment, not a universal recommendation for every C8; verify the exact approved size and configuration for the car before purchasing tires.

The ZR1X is a 2026 model-year announcement, distinct from the 2027 LS6 changes. Chevrolet says it combines a 5.5-liter twin-turbo LT7 V8 rated at 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft at the rear wheels with a front electric motor rated at 186 hp and 145 lb-ft, for 1,250 hp combined and electric all-wheel drive. Chevrolet describes a 1.9-kWh battery replenished through regenerative operation, so it does not need to be plugged in; the front axle can provide power through 160 mph before disconnecting. What the announced changes do—and do not—establish
The clearest change for everyday occupants is the 2026 cabin redesign. For 2027, the LS6’s higher output and the split between rear-drive Grand Sport and all-wheel-drive Grand Sport X are the defining mechanical news. Chevrolet’s announcements provide specifications and selected performance claims, but they do not establish independent comparisons, real-world fuel economy, handling differences, reliability or owner satisfaction. Those outcomes should not be inferred from the manufacturer’s figures alone.
