The 2025 Toyota GR86 is a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe offered in GR86, GR86 Premium, and limited Hakone Edition grades. Toyota published base MSRPs from $30,400 for a manual GR86 to $35,270 for the Hakone Edition. All use a 228-hp naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four, with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Toyota also revised throttle mapping, shocks, steering, and structural reinforcement for the 2025 model year.
What’s new for the 2025 Toyota GR86?
Toyota’s July 12, 2024 announcement described several updates for the 2025 model year: revised throttle mapping, retuned shock absorbers and electric power steering, and added structural reinforcement through underbody adhesive and high-strength fasteners. Toyota characterized the shock update this way: “For 2025, GR86 shock absorbers have been re-tuned to help improve handling response and a sense of ground contact.”
How much does a 2025 GR86 cost?

Toyota’s 2025 model page lists five grade-and-transmission MSRP combinations in total. The figures above identify the endpoints established in that published information; they should not be used to estimate today’s market price.
What are the GR86’s engine, performance, and fuel-economy figures?
Every 2025 grade uses a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter FA24 horizontally opposed four-cylinder rated by Toyota at 228 hp at 7,000 rpm and 184 lb-ft of torque at 3,700 rpm. Power goes to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, and Toyota lists a Torsen limited-slip differential across the lineup.

What is the difference between GR86 and GR86 Premium?
The base GR86 is the entry grade; Premium adds larger wheels, more cabin and convenience equipment, and additional driver-assistance features. The Hakone Edition builds on Premium equipment and adds its distinct appearance and performance hardware.

Toyota lists an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and its GR86 Active Safety Suite across all three grades. Adaptive cruise control is available only with the automatic transmission. The brochure also lists seven airbags, stability control, and ABS. Driver-assistance features do not guarantee crash avoidance.

The Hakone is a limited U.S.-market special edition with Ridge Green paint, bronze 18-inch wheels, edition-specific exterior details, and tan-accented Ultrasuede and leather interior trim. What should buyers know about tires and everyday use?
The factory tires are summer tires, not all-season tires: the base grade has 215/45R17 Michelin Primacy HP tires, while Premium and Hakone use 215/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Toyota cautions that performance-tire life varies with conditions. Owners shopping for replacements should verify the correct size and fitment for their exact grade; a summer tire’s suitability depends on climate and intended use.
Toyota’s 2025 brochure lists curb weights of 2,811 lb for the base manual, 2,851 lb for the base automatic, 2,833 lb for the Premium manual, and 2,868 lb for the Premium automatic. The brochure lists Hakone curb weight as N/A, so a figure should not be inferred from another grade.
