Early photos of the refreshed 2025 Tesla Model Y showed a redesigned cabin and a blue exterior Notebookcheck called Glacial Blue. Those images came from the China-market reveal, so they are a first look—not proof that every market or trim gets the same equipment or paint. Tesla calls the vehicle the “new Model Y”; “Juniper” is the fan- and media-used nickname, not Tesla’s internal name.
What the first 2025 Model Y Juniper photos showed
Tesla’s China consumer website displayed the refreshed Model Y on January 10, 2025, with the first interior images, according to Car and Driver’s photo gallery. A later report from Notebookcheck, dated January 22, covered leaked real-life images of a blue car and details of its cabin and wheel covers. The photos reveal visible design changes, but they are not a road test.
The reports use “Juniper” as shorthand for the refresh. Tesla’s official announcement, dated April 1, 2025 and last updated December 12, 2025, calls it “new Model Y.” The Independent reports that Tesla described “Juniper” as a fan-created nickname rather than its internal code name.

Early China-market images
Notebookcheck’s early photo report identified a 15.4-inch central display, ventilated seats and a traditional turn-signal stalk. Car and Driver also noted ventilated front seats, a redesigned steering wheel, a rear passenger display and the retained indicator stalk. These are reports about the China-market vehicle shown at launch; specifications can differ by region and trim.

Features described in UK hands-on coverage
In its later UK hands-on review, The Independent described ambient lighting, softer dashboard and door materials, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and an 8-inch rear touchscreen. It also found a traditional left turn-signal stalk. The old gear-selection and Autopilot stalk functions had moved to the touchscreen.
The rear screen and revised cabin finishes are among the more noticeable differences for passengers, while moving gear selection and Autopilot controls to the display changes how drivers interact with the car. The reported UK equipment should not be assumed to match every market’s configuration.

What Glacial Blue looks like—and what its name tells you
The early leaked-photo report calls the blue finish Glacial Blue. The Independent later spells the name glacier blue in its UK coverage. Both describe a blue exterior on the refreshed Model Y, but neither establishes that the color is offered in every country or on every trim. Check Tesla’s current configurator for the intended market and specification before treating the name as a confirmed local option.

Tesla describes the refresh as having a lower nose, a cross-car front lightbar, a redesigned rear lightbar and tailgate, and aerodynamic changes. Those are the manufacturer’s descriptions of its own design.

Tesla also says the new Model Y has 22% less road noise, 20% less impact noise and 20% less wind noise, and claims 5% more range with the same battery energy compared with earlier Model Y vehicles. These are company-published comparisons, not independent measurements. In its April 1, 2025 announcement, Tesla wrote: “New Model Y also has 5% more range with the same battery energy and more comfortable ride handling compared to earlier Model Y vehicles.”
For the all-wheel-drive trim described in that announcement, Tesla lists a 320-mile EPA-estimated range and a 0–60 mph time of 4.1 seconds. These are Tesla-published figures for that trim, not results from an independent test; they should not be generalized to other versions.
