The 2025 U.S.-market Porsche 911 Carrera GTS pairs a new 3.6-liter boxer engine with electric assistance for 532 hp of combined system output. The standard Carrera keeps its 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer, revised for 388 hp. Porsche announced quicker acceleration for both models on May 28, 2024; its performance figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
What changed for the 2025 Porsche 911?
Porsche’s May 28, 2024 U.S. announcement introduced updates to the Carrera and Carrera GTS. The headline change is the GTS powertrain: it is the first production Porsche to use the company’s T-Hybrid technology. The standard Carrera receives revisions to its existing 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine rather than the GTS’s hybrid system. Porsche’s U.S. launch announcement gives the U.S.-market output, performance specifications and launch price.
How the Carrera GTS T-Hybrid works
The GTS combines a newly developed 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, an electrically driven turbocharger and an electric motor integrated into the transmission. The electric turbocharger’s motor helps build boost, while the transmission-integrated motor contributes to the combined powertrain output. Porsche describes the system as a lightweight, performance-focused hybrid; it is distinct from a conventional plug-in hybrid arrangement.
Porsche lists the boxer engine alone at 478 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. With the electric components included, total system output is 532 hp and 449 lb-ft. These are separate figures: the engine-only output is not the GTS’s combined rating.

2025 Carrera and Carrera GTS specifications
| U.S.-market model and configuration | Powertrain and output | Porsche-announced acceleration | Top track speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 911 Carrera Coupe | 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer; 388 hp and up to 331 lb-ft | 0–60 mph in 3.9 seconds; 3.7 seconds with optional Sport Chrono | 183 mph |
| 911 Carrera GTS Coupe | T-Hybrid, 3.6-liter boxer; 532 hp and 449 lb-ft combined system output | 0–60 mph in 2.9 seconds | 194 mph |
All figures in the table are Porsche’s U.S.-market specifications announced in May 2024, not independent test results. Porsche says the GTS Coupe reaches 60 mph 0.3 seconds quicker than its predecessor. For the Carrera, Porsche describes the changes versus the preceding model as 9 hp more, a 0.1-second improvement to 60 mph and a 1-mph increase in top track speed.
Why the standard Carrera is quicker
The Carrera retains its 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer but adopts the intercooler used in Turbo models and turbochargers from the previous Carrera GTS. Porsche says those changes support the U.S.-market Carrera’s 388 hp and up to 331 lb-ft, along with its announced acceleration and speed figures above. The optional Sport Chrono package is required for Porsche’s quoted 3.7-second 0–60 mph time; without it, Porsche lists 3.9 seconds.

How much heavier is the hybrid GTS?
Porsche says the U.S.-market GTS Coupe’s curb weight is 103 lb higher than that of its predecessor, despite the addition of hybrid hardware. The company also offers a separate acceleration comparison in its technical press kit: with full acceleration from a standstill and from idle, the new GTS covers more than one-third greater distance in 2.5 seconds than its predecessor. That comparison is Porsche’s and applies to the stated acceleration conditions; it is not an independent measurement. Porsche’s GTS technical press kit describes the comparison.
U.S. and Canadian figures are different
Porsche’s Canadian release reports metric-market specifications that should not be substituted directly for the U.S. figures. It lists the GTS at 0–100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 312 km/h. For the Carrera, it lists 0–100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, or 3.9 seconds with optional Sport Chrono, and a top speed of 294 km/h. These are the Canadian release’s figures and units, not conversions of the U.S. 0–60 mph claims. Porsche’s Canadian announcement provides those regional specifications.

2025 Carrera GTS launch price
Porsche announced a U.S. starting price of $164,900 for the 2025 Carrera GTS in its May 2024 launch release. That is the announced launch figure, not a current-price check, dealer quote or transaction price; the cited release does not establish what a buyer would pay for a particular configuration.
What the specifications do—and do not—show
The announced figures make the distinction between the models clear: the Carrera is a revised conventional twin-turbo model, while the GTS adds Porsche’s T-Hybrid hardware and a new, larger boxer engine. Porsche’s numbers describe claimed performance and comparisons, but the cited announcements do not provide independent, same-condition testing of the two cars. Body style and equipment also matter: the U.S. acceleration and speed figures cited here are for the Coupe, and the Carrera’s quicker listed time requires optional Sport Chrono.
