The 2025 MINI Cooper Convertible pairs a power-operated fabric roof with a choice of two turbocharged engines. MINI’s published figures make the Cooper S the quicker, more powerful version, while the Cooper starts at a lower launch price. The phrase “last convertible of its kind” is not established as a literal claim: the available sources do not verify that this was MINI’s final convertible or the last car in its market segment.
What changed between the Cooper and Cooper S?
MINI announced two US-market engine choices for the 2025 Convertible. The figures below are manufacturer specifications and acceleration claims, not independent instrumented test results.

MINI announced both prices as launch MSRPs, with $995 destination and handling added to each. They are historical pricing figures, not a statement of current dealer asking prices or transaction costs. MINI expected the cars to reach US dealers in early January 2025. MINI’s 2025 model-year announcement lists the output, acceleration, pricing and timing.
The Cooper S has a 40-hp and 37-lb-ft advantage on paper, and MINI’s quoted 0–60 time is 1.2 seconds quicker. Those figures support choosing the S for stronger published performance; they do not establish how either car feels in everyday driving. Cars.com lists front-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic for the 2025 model, and says no manual is offered. Cars.com’s model research page is the source for that transmission detail.

What roof modes does the 2025 Convertible offer?
The automatic fabric roof has two operating modes: it can slide back partway as a sunroof, or retract fully for open-air driving. MINI says the sunroof opening extends up to 40 cm (15.7 inches). Full retraction is available at speeds up to 30 km/h (18.6 mph), according to MINI’s 2025 soft-top FAQ.
MINI’s US announcement says the roof fully opens in 18 seconds and describes operation while moving at up to 19 mph. The FAQ gives the more precise speed limit as 30 km/h, or 18.6 mph; 19 mph is a rounded figure. The roof’s motion limits should not be read as permission to operate it in every road or weather condition.

MINI identifies a wind deflector between the cockpit and rear seats as an airflow aid. If considering one as an accessory, verify fitment for the exact F67 model and trim with MINI or an authorized parts seller; the available information does not establish a particular product’s compatibility or availability.
What styles, colors and wheels were announced?
MINI listed Classic Style and Favoured Style for the US-market Convertible, along with 11 paint colors and 17- or 18-inch wheel choices. The available announcement does not establish the complete contents or option pricing for each style, so those details should be confirmed on the specific car being considered.

The fabric roof is black or optionally grey with a Union Jack pattern, according to MINI’s FAQ on 2025 soft-top colors.
What should owners know about roof operation and safety?
The 2025 owner’s manual says the rollover protection system deploys automatically in a sufficiently serious accident or when the vehicle reaches an extreme tilt along its longitudinal axis. Safety bars behind the rear head restraints extend within a fraction of a second; the manual says they supplement the reinforced windshield frame. These features describe rollover protection, not an overall crash-test result.

Before operating the roof, follow the manual’s cautions:
- Keep the roof’s movement area clear and remove obstructions.
- Do not operate the roof when it is wet, snow-covered, iced up or dirty.
- Be aware that rear visibility can be limited when operating the roof while driving.
