The IONIQ 5 offers a standard native NACS port and Hyundai-published fast-charge estimates; the Prologue gives shoppers FWD and AWD choices and publishes cargo figures by trim. Compare range, charging, equipment, and local out-the-door prices—not just the model names.
How their designs reflect different priorities
The IONIQ 5 makes a stronger visual statement, while the Prologue takes a more restrained approach. Design is subjective, so the useful comparison is what each model’s specifications establish: the IONIQ 5’s charging-port and charging-time claims, and the Prologue’s drivetrain options and published cargo capacity. Both model lines vary by trim, so a vehicle’s equipment and figures depend on the configuration.
Which has more range?
There is no single answer across both lineups. Hyundai lists EPA-estimated range from 245 to 318 miles for the 2025 IONIQ 5, depending on battery, drivetrain, and trim. Honda lists 283 to 308 miles for the 2025 Prologue. These are manufacturer-published EPA estimates, not guarantees of real-world range.
| Vehicle and configuration | EPA-estimated range | Source |
|---|---|---|
| IONIQ 5 SE Standard Range RWD, 63 kWh | 245 miles | Hyundai USA |
| IONIQ 5 SE, SEL, or Limited RWD, 84 kWh | 318 miles | Hyundai USA |
| IONIQ 5 SE or SEL AWD, 84 kWh | 290 miles | Hyundai USA |
| IONIQ 5 Limited AWD, 84 kWh | 269 miles | Hyundai USA |
| IONIQ 5 XRT AWD, 84 kWh | 259 miles | Hyundai USA |
| Prologue EX or Touring FWD | 308 miles | Honda |
| Prologue EX or Touring AWD | 294 miles | Honda |
| Prologue Elite AWD | 283 miles | Honda |
For the longest listed range, the IONIQ 5 SE, SEL, and Limited RWD trims lead at 318 miles. The Prologue’s highest listed figure is 308 miles for FWD EX and Touring. Choosing AWD changes the comparison: the IONIQ 5 AWD estimates range from 259 to 290 miles, while the Prologue AWD estimates range from 283 to 294 miles.

Which EV charges faster?
Hyundai and Honda publish charging estimates over different battery-charge windows, so the headline times are not a direct like-for-like test. Hyundai estimates that 84-kWh IONIQ 5 versions can charge from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes on a DC fast charger rated above 250 kW. On a NACS V3 or V4 Supercharger, Hyundai estimates 30 minutes for the 84-kWh battery and 24 minutes for the 63-kWh version. Honda estimates 35 minutes for a Prologue charge from 20% to 80%.
Those are manufacturer estimates, and actual charging time varies with the charger and conditions. The different starting percentages matter: a 10–80% estimate covers a wider charge window than 20–80%, so the times should not be read as equivalent test results.

Does the 2025 IONIQ 5 have a NACS port?
Yes. Hyundai says the 2025 IONIQ 5 is its first model with a native NACS port and includes a CCS adapter. That port is a meaningful distinction for shoppers considering charging stops at compatible Tesla Superchargers. Honda’s cited specification release does not establish Prologue connector or charging-network compatibility details, so verify the equipment and access available for the specific vehicle and charging service rather than assuming them from this comparison.
What home charger do you need?
Both vehicles can be part of a Level 2 home-charging setup, but the purchase price of the vehicle does not settle what installation your home needs. Hyundai says a Level 2 home charger is not included. Honda says its 48-amp charge station is sold separately and requires professional installation.

Honda publishes cargo volume by Prologue trim: EX has 25.2 cubic feet behind the second row and 57.7 cubic feet with the seats folded. Touring and Elite list 23.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 54.5 cubic feet with the seats folded. Hyundai’s cited IONIQ 5 overview does not provide matching cargo measurements, so these figures do not establish which vehicle carries more. Compare both vehicles using the same measurement method and the trim you intend to buy.

| 2025 IONIQ 5 trim | Starting MSRP | Battery |
|---|---|---|
| SE Standard Range | $42,600 | 63 kWh |
| SE | $46,650 | 84 kWh |

| XRT | $55,500 | 84 kWh |

Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the IONIQ 5 if the native NACS port, included CCS adapter, or Hyundai’s published fast-charge estimates suit your charging plans. For maximum listed range, compare the 318-mile RWD trims; for AWD, compare the specific trim’s range and equipment.
- Consider the Prologue if you want a choice between FWD and AWD configurations or need Honda’s published cargo-volume figures to plan around your gear. Its FWD EX and Touring trims have the lineup’s top listed Prologue range.
- Compare the exact vehicles if cargo capacity, home-charging installation, or price will decide the purchase. Match trims and drivetrains, confirm equipment, and use local written quotes rather than treating starting MSRP as the deal.
