On paper, the 2025 SL 43 seats four and has 7.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity, but those numbers do not make it a practical four-person or luggage-hauling car. Car and Driver characterizes the rear seats as small and the luggage space as limited. Its review praises the SL’s styling, agility for its weight, and standard technology and luxury, while criticizing its high pricing and touch-control response. Those are the publication’s evaluations, not universal owner experience.
What is distinctive about the SL 43’s turbocharger?
Mercedes-Benz Media’s April 6, 2022 launch release describes an electrically assisted exhaust-gas turbocharger whose development drew on technology used by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team. It is integrated with a 48-volt electrical system and belt-driven starter-generator. The release’s original figures are for the European launch version: 280 kW/381 PS, with a temporary 10 kW/14 PS boost, and 480 Nm of torque. They are not the U.S. 2025 specification; for that model year, Edmunds lists 416 hp and 369 lb-ft.
