The trade-offs are real, too—fuel economy in one short test was modest, and Hyundai recommends winter tires for low-temperature performance. Its listed 2025 prices are useful reference points, not current quotes.
Is the 2025 Elantra N fun to drive?
In a week-long test published May 25, 2025, Tom’s Guide reviewer John Velasco praised the Elantra N’s acceleration, tight steering and cornering confidence. He also liked its sporty exterior details and the ability to customize driving behavior. Those are one reviewer’s impressions, not a guarantee that every driver will find the car comfortable or enjoyable.
The appeal is the combination: Hyundai positions the Elantra N as a performance model, while the car remains a compact sedan rather than a dedicated track car. The same performance focus that makes it engaging can bring compromises in fuel use, noise and seasonal tire planning.
What power and drivetrain does it have?
Hyundai Motor America lists the U.S. 2025 Elantra N at 276 hp and 289 lb.-ft. of torque, with front-wheel drive. It is not an all-wheel-drive sedan.

Transmission availability includes a six-speed manual and Hyundai’s N DCT, according to Hyundai N’s international specification page. That page quotes 280 PS, or 290 PS with NGS, and a 0–100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds for the N DCT. These are international-page figures and use different units and regional specification context; they should not be treated as U.S.-market horsepower or a U.S. acceleration result.
How much does the 2025 Hyundai Elantra N cost?
Tom’s Guide reported a $34,350 starting MSRP and a $37,545 price for the vehicle it tested in its 2025 review. These are dated review figures, not a current dealer quote. Actual pricing depends on location, vehicle configuration, fees, incentives and availability.

To judge whether the N is affordable against another performance compact, compare current transaction prices for similarly equipped cars in the same market. A starting MSRP should not be compared with a competitor’s loaded transaction price as if the figures were equivalent.
What is the Elantra N’s real-world mpg?
Velasco reported 23.1 mpg combined during his 119.2-mile test. That is a short, individual road-test observation—not an EPA rating, a long-term average or a prediction of what owners will achieve. Driving style, route, traffic and conditions can all affect consumption.

What should owners know about tires and cold weather?
Hyundai says the Elantra N’s performance summer tires may produce moderate noise below 7°C and recommends winter tires for optimal performance in low temperatures. That makes seasonal use worth considering if you regularly drive in cold or winter conditions.
The specific U.S. wheel and tire fitment is not established here. Check the vehicle’s configuration and the manufacturer’s fitment guidance before buying replacement or winter tires; do not assume a size based only on the model name.

What warranty and maintenance coverage does Hyundai list?
Hyundai Motor America’s 2025 model page advertises three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary maintenance and a 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. Eligibility, covered services, exclusions and other terms apply. Confirm current availability and full conditions in Hyundai’s official 2025 Elantra N information and warranty documentation before relying on either benefit.
Who should consider the Elantra N?
The Elantra N is worth considering if you want a compact sedan with a manual option, substantial power and an adjustable performance character, and you are comfortable with front-wheel drive. Its case is less straightforward if low fuel consumption, quiet running or avoiding a second seasonal tire setup is a priority. A test drive in your usual driving environment can help determine whether its performance-focused compromises work for you.
