2025 Harley-Davidson Nightster vs. Indian Scout Sixty: 10 Reasons to Choose the Nightster

The Nightster leads the cited Scout Sixty variants on listed power, torque and running-order weight, but the Bobber matches its starting MSRP and the Indians list lower seat heights.

The 2025 Harley-Davidson Nightster has several measurable advantages over the Indian Scout Sixty range: more manufacturer-listed power and torque, less listed running-order weight, a six-speed gearbox, and three standard ride modes. But it is not a universal winner. The Scout Sixty Bobber starts at the same listed US MSRP, and both Scout Sixty examples have lower listed seat heights. Here are ten evidence-based reasons the Nightster may suit you better—and the important trade-offs to check before choosing.

“Scout Sixty” covers multiple motorcycles, not one trim. This comparison names the 2025 Scout Sixty Bobber and Sport Scout Sixty where their prices, weights, or equipment differ. Figures and prices below are from official US manufacturer pages accessed October 7, 2026; confirm current specifications and dealer pricing before purchase.

1. The Nightster has higher manufacturer-listed output

Harley-Davidson lists the Nightster’s liquid-cooled Revolution Max 975T at 91 hp and 72 ft-lb of torque. Indian lists the Scout Sixty variants’ 999 cc SpeedPlus V-twin at 85 hp and 65 ft-lb. Those published peak figures favor the Harley, but they do not establish which bike accelerates faster in real-world riding or feels stronger at a particular speed. Harley-Davidson’s 2025 Nightster US page; Indian’s 2025 Scout Sixty Bobber page; Indian’s 2025 Sport Scout Sixty page.

2. It is lighter on the listed running-order figures

Harley lists the Nightster at 481 lb running order. Indian lists the Sport Scout Sixty at 549 lb and the Scout Sixty Bobber at 536 lb running order. The listed difference is 68 lb versus the Sport Scout Sixty and 55 lb versus the Bobber. That is a specification comparison, not proof that the Nightster will feel easier to manage for every rider; balance, seat reach and personal comfort matter too. Harley-Davidson; Sport Scout Sixty; Scout Sixty Bobber.

3. The Sport Scout Sixty costs more at listed starting MSRP

The official US pages list the Nightster at $9,999+, the Sport Scout Sixty at $11,499, and the Scout Sixty Bobber at $9,999. On those starting figures, the Nightster is $1,500 below the Sport Scout Sixty, while matching the Bobber’s listed starting MSRP. The “+” and Indian’s notice of additional destination, handling and other charges mean these are not guaranteed out-the-door prices; get dealer quotes for the exact bikes and options you are considering. Harley-Davidson; Sport Scout Sixty; Scout Sixty Bobber.

4. You get a six-speed transmission

Harley lists a six-speed transmission for the Nightster; Indian lists five speeds for both cited Scout Sixty variants. The extra gear is a real specification distinction, but gear count alone does not tell you which bike has more relaxed highway gearing or better in-gear response. Those are questions for a ride on the specific model. Harley-Davidson; Sport Scout Sixty; Scout Sixty Bobber.

5. Its belt final drive is explicitly listed

Harley’s Nightster product description specifies belt final drive. The cited Indian Scout Sixty pages establish the five-speed transmission but do not provide a comparable final-drive detail in the information available here, so this is a reason to choose the Nightster if you specifically want the documented belt-drive specification—not evidence that the Indian uses a different system or that one requires less maintenance.

6. Three ride modes are listed for the Nightster

Harley lists Road, Rain and Sport modes on the Nightster. That gives the rider three selectable modes according to the manufacturer; the available information does not establish how their performance compares with the Scout Sixty’s optional modes. Indian says ride modes are an upgrade on the Limited trim, not standard equipment on every Scout Sixty. Check the exact Scout Sixty trim and equipment sheet before comparing.

7. The Nightster’s listed electronic safety equipment is clearly specified

Harley lists ABS, traction control and drag-torque slip control for the Nightster. Indian’s Sport Scout Sixty page lists ABS and describes traction control as an upgrade on Limited trim. If those electronic features are part of your buying criteria, compare the exact Indian trim and options against the Nightster’s stated equipment rather than assuming every Scout Sixty includes the same package.

8. It has a lower listed fuel capacity, but no proven range advantage

Harley lists a 3.1-gallon tank and estimated fuel economy of 52 mpg for the Nightster. Indian lists 3.4 gallons for the cited Scout Sixty models, but a comparable Indian fuel-economy estimate is not established here. Tank size alone cannot tell you which motorcycle travels farther between stops; don’t treat the Harley’s published estimate as a head-to-head range result.

9. You can choose between a single Nightster specification and distinct Scout Sixty styles

If you are deciding specifically between a Nightster and a Scout Sixty, make the Indian comparison trim-specific. The Sport Scout Sixty is described by Indian as having a performance-inspired quarter fairing and a 19-inch front wheel; the Scout Sixty Bobber is a separate variant with its own listed price and weight. The Nightster’s US page, by contrast, presents the model as the Nightster. This is a reason to choose the Harley if you want the Nightster’s particular configuration, not proof that it has better styling or ergonomics. Sit on or ride the exact motorcycles before deciding.

10. Its output and weight figures make a strong spec-sheet case

Consider the Nightster if your shortlist prioritizes the manufacturer-listed combination of 91 hp, 72 ft-lb and 481 lb running order. Each figure is higher or lower in the direction a spec-focused shopper might prefer compared with the listed Scout Sixty examples. But the numbers do not settle comfort, cornering, acceleration, reliability, running costs or suitability for a given rider; those claims are not established by these manufacturer specifications.

Where the Scout Sixty may suit you better

The Nightster’s case is not a verdict for every rider. The Scout Sixty Bobber shares the Nightster’s listed $9,999 starting MSRP, and both cited Indian variants have lower numeric seat-height values than Harley’s 27.1-inch laden figure. Indian lists 25.7 inches for the Sport Scout Sixty and 25.6 inches for the Bobber, without labeling those figures as laden, so they are not fully apples-to-apples measurements. Try the actual bike: a published seat height cannot replace checking reach to the ground and your comfort at a stop.

Equipment also depends on Indian trim. Indian says LED lighting and a fuel-level gauge are standard on the Sport Scout Sixty page, while cruise control, traction control, ride modes and USB charging are upgrades on Limited trim. Harley lists LED lighting among the Nightster’s equipment. Confirm the build sheet for the specific Scout Sixty rather than treating features listed for Limited as standard throughout the range.

How to decide between them

  • Choose the Nightster for the listed higher output, lower running-order weight, six-speed transmission, belt-drive specification and three listed ride modes.
  • Compare the Nightster directly with the Sport Scout Sixty if you are weighing the listed starting prices; compare it with the Bobber if the $9,999 starting price is central to your decision.
  • Try both motorcycles in person if seat reach, balance, riding position or comfort is a deciding factor. The seat-height figures use different or unspecified measurement conditions.
  • Ask a dealer for an itemized, out-the-door quote and a trim-specific equipment list. MSRP and family-level descriptions do not establish the final price or exact included features.
