The US-specification 2025 Ford Mustang GTD has 815 SAE-certified horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, according to Ford’s September 16, 2024 announcement. Ford called it the most powerful production Mustang in history at the time; the company also announced a 202-mph top speed. Those figures describe US-specification cars, and Ford cautions that horsepower and torque may not be achieved simultaneously.
How much horsepower does the 2025 Mustang GTD have?
Ford announced a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 rated at 815 SAE-certified horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque for the US-specification GTD. Ford’s release says those figures are independent attributes and may not occur at the same time. It also cautions that its calculated data applies to US-specification vehicles and should not be relied on for vehicles offered outside the United States. Ford’s September 16, 2024 announcement is the source for these specifications.
Is the Mustang GTD the most powerful Mustang?
Ford described the GTD as the most powerful production Mustang in history when it announced the car on September 16, 2024. That is Ford’s claim about the production Mustang lineup at that time, not an independently established claim about every Mustang variant that might be produced later.
Ford also characterized the GTD as a “first-ever supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang.” That phrase came from Greg Goodall, identified by Ford as Mustang GTD Chief Program Engineer; it is his characterization, rather than an independent classification of the car.

What is the Mustang GTD’s top speed?
Ford announced a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h) for the US-specification GTD. The car’s Drag Reduction System is designed to adapt its aerodynamics: it changes the rear wing angle and can activate flaps beneath the front of the car to balance airflow for speed and downforce for grip, according to Ford’s September 2024 release.
What engineering features support its performance?
Engine lubrication and revs
The GTD uses the Mustang line’s first dry-sump oil system. Ford says it can help maintain lubrication during sustained, demanding cornering and enables a maximum engine speed of 7,650 rpm.

Chassis, suspension and brakes
Ford lists active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes and an inboard rear suspension with semi-active dampers among the GTD’s performance features. The company’s announcement describes the components, but the cited specification does not provide a like-for-like comparison with other performance cars.
How fast did the Mustang GTD lap the Nürburgring?
Ford reported on December 10, 2024, that Multimatic Motorsports driver Dirk Müller completed an officially certified Nürburgring Nordschleife lap in 6:57.685. Ford described it as the first sub-seven-minute lap by a car from an American brand. This was a later lap result, separate from the power, torque and top-speed figures in Ford’s September announcement. Ford’s December 10, 2024 report gives the time and attribution.

What is different about the Spirit of America edition?
Ford’s January 10, 2025 release describes the Spirit of America edition with a white body and red and blue stripes. It also specifies leather-trimmed seats with Dinamica inserts and available 3D-printed titanium cabin details. Those appearance and interior details apply to that edition and its stated options, not automatically to every Mustang GTD. Ford’s January 10, 2025 release describes the edition.
