What is the 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid?
The Maverick is a compact pickup aimed at drivers who want an open bed and practical hauling ability without moving up to a larger truck. Its hybrid powertrain combines a 2.5-liter engine with an electric motor and a power-split electric continuously variable transmission. Ford lists 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. FWD is standard, and AWD became available on the hybrid for the 2025 model year. What is the MPG on a 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid?

Edmunds, as summarized in an Associated Press comparison, recorded a few more mpg than the Maverick’s 38-mpg combined rating in its real-world testing. The report passage does not identify the exact Maverick configuration or a reproducible test protocol, so that result should not be treated as an expected figure for every owner. Is the 2025 Maverick Hybrid available with AWD?
Yes. For 2025, Ford added AWD as an option for the hybrid, alongside the standard FWD configuration. The official ratings show a one-mpg combined penalty for AWD—37 mpg versus 38 mpg for FWD—along with a one-mpg difference in both city and highway ratings. How does the Maverick Hybrid drive?

In its test of an AWD hybrid, Car and Driver measured 6.7 seconds from zero to 60 mph. The publication described the hybrid as driving much as before and characterized the suspension as fairly stiff, with some roughness over broken pavement. How much can a 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid tow and carry?
Ford’s technical specifications list 2,000 pounds of standard towing capacity for the hybrid. The hybrid’s maximum payload is listed as up to 1,500 pounds for FWD and 1,400 pounds for AWD. These are maximum published figures; the usable payload of an individual truck depends on its equipment and is shown on its door label. Do not apply the 4,000-pound figure associated with Ford’s 4K Tow package in eligible configurations to the hybrid. Ford lists 2,000 pounds as the hybrid’s standard towing capacity. The exact vehicle rating should be verified against its equipment and documentation.

How does the Maverick compare with the Hyundai Santa Cruz?
The choice is less about a universal winner than the work each vehicle needs to do. The Associated Press report of Edmunds’ comparison characterizes the Maverick as the more conventional, work-truck-like choice, with stronger hauling utility; it describes the Santa Cruz as more comfortable and upscale.
