Its reported original starting prices ranged from $26,995 for the LS to $32,695 for the 2LT, including destination freight; those historical figures are not current dealer quotes. The Malibu uses a 163-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive.
How much did a 2025 Chevy Malibu cost?
GM Authority reported these 2025 Malibu trim starting prices on May 23, 2024. The figures include a $1,195 destination freight charge, so they are not directly comparable to an MSRP that excludes destination.
| Trim | Reported starting price including destination |
|---|---|
| LS | $26,995 |
| RS | $27,995 |
| 1LT | $29,295 |
| 2LT | $32,695 |
GM Authority’s 2024 pricing report provides the trim figures and freight amount. Chevrolet’s discontinued-vehicles page explains that MSRP excludes destination freight, taxes, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment. Actual dealer asking prices may differ, and these model-year starting prices do not establish what a particular dealer has available or will charge today.
There is a published price discrepancy: Consumer Reports’ gallery lists a base MSRP range of $24,700–$31,500 plus $1,195 destination, which does not match GM Authority’s trim figures. These figures use different reported conventions and should not be combined or treated as a verified correction to one another. Consumer Reports’ 2025 Malibu gallery shows its stated range.

What are the 2025 Chevy Malibu trim levels?
The reported lineup comprises four trims: LS, RS, 1LT and 2LT. The prices above are historical model-year starting prices with destination included, not a current inventory list. Equipment can vary by trim; Chevrolet’s feature sheet describes its standard-equipment basis as the LS/1FL equipment group, so an item listed there should not automatically be assumed standard on every configuration.
Is 2025 the last year for the Chevy Malibu?
Yes. Chevrolet states: “The 2025 model marked the last year of this iconic midsize sedan.” Chevrolet directs shoppers interested in retired vehicles toward its Certified Pre-Owned pathway, but current availability of any particular Malibu depends on local inventory.

Because the quoted prices are original model-year figures rather than live offers, check local listings for the specific car’s trim, equipment, mileage, condition and asking price. If comparing it with another midsize sedan, use the same model year and compare destination-charge conventions, powertrain, standard safety and infotainment equipment, cabin and cargo utility, and current local availability. The cited information does not establish a same-year competitor comparison or a winner.
