It is the less extreme V-Series sedan: the CT5-V Blackwing gets a 668-hp supercharged V8 and a choice of manual or automatic transmission. Both receive revised front styling and a 33-inch-diagonal LED touchscreen for 2025.
Cadillac’s published specifications explain the power, equipment and differences between the two cars, but they do not establish how either feels in an independent road test. Treat this as a specification-led first-drive guide, not a firsthand verdict on ride, steering or handling.
What is the 2025 CT5-V, and what changed?
The CT5-V is Cadillac’s performance-oriented version of the CT5 sedan. For 2025, Cadillac revised the front fascias and lighting on both V-Series sedans and added a 33-inch-diagonal LED touchscreen. The update also includes a Performance in-vehicle app, Google built-in, and an available enhanced Performance Data Recorder with lap-analysis tools.
Exterior changes include quad trapezoid exhaust tips and three new paint choices: Drift Metallic, Deep Space Metallic and Typhoon Metallic. Cadillac also announced updated performance and driver-assistance technology. These are manufacturer-described updates; the specifications alone do not establish a measurable improvement in road performance.

How does the CT5-V compare with the Blackwing?
The regular CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing share the refreshed body and screen, but their powertrains and intended performance levels are markedly different. Figures below are Cadillac’s North American 2025 model-year specifications, announced January 24, 2024—not independent test results.

That output gap is the clearest reason to choose between them. The CT5-V offers a V-series powertrain without the Blackwing’s supercharged V8; the Blackwing adds substantially more power and, for buyers who want it, a manual gearbox. Cadillac lists 11.9 cubic feet of cargo volume and an approximate 17.4-gallon fuel-tank capacity for the 2025 specifications.

What does the CT5-V offer beyond its engine?
Cadillac lists heated and massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, HD Surround Vision and AKG audio as standard on both V-Series models. On the CT5-V, ventilated front seats and a head-up display are available; both are standard on the Blackwing. Super Cruise is listed as standard on automatic-transmission versions and includes Driver Attention Assist. Cadillac’s press material notes feature and service-plan limitations, so confirm the applicable terms for the specific car.
Listed driver-assistance features include Blind Zone Steering Assist, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking and Traffic Sign Recognition. Some equipment is tied to automatic transmission. These systems assist the driver; they do not replace attentive driving.

What is the Blackwing Precision Package?
Introduced by Cadillac on July 30, 2024, the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing Precision Package is an optional track-focused chassis upgrade, not a package for the regular CT5-V. Its listed changes include increased spring rates, a larger front stabilizer bar, revised suspension bushings, steering knuckles and rear toe links that allow more aggressive track alignment, recalibrated Magnetic Ride Control dampers and chassis systems, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Cadillac says the package targets greater steering precision near the corner apex, stability on corner exit and improved road feel. Those are the manufacturer’s stated aims, not independent test findings. The package is most relevant to a Blackwing buyer who expects to drive on track and wants the specified hardware; the available information does not quantify a lap-time gain or establish how it changes everyday comfort.

What should buyers verify before arranging a test drive?
- Drivetrain and transmission: The CT5-V can be specified with rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive, but its listed transmission is automatic. The Blackwing is rear-wheel drive and offers a manual or an available automatic.
- Tires: Cadillac lists summer-only run-flats as standard on the CT5-V and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires on the Blackwing. Cadillac cautions against summer-only tires in winter and recommends GM-approved tire and wheel combinations. Check the actual car’s tire fitment and seasonal suitability.
- Driver-assistance and comfort equipment: Confirm the individual vehicle’s equipment and any Super Cruise feature or service-plan terms rather than assuming every configuration has identical capabilities.
- Local availability: Cadillac’s announcement says availability is extremely limited. Check with a Cadillac dealer for current inventory and offers; the January 2024 specifications do not establish present-day stock or transaction prices.
- Fuel economy: Cadillac’s January 2024 specifications did not include EPA estimates. No 2025 CT5-V or Blackwing fuel-economy figure is established by those specifications.
What can—and can’t—be concluded from the published information?
The published specifications make the CT5-V’s role clear: it is the 360-hp, automatic-only V-Series option, with AWD available, while the Blackwing is the 668-hp V8 model with a manual option and a more extensive track package. The refreshed screen, styling and equipment are documented, but Cadillac’s announcement and the available November 19, 2024 first-drive listing do not substantiate specific claims about steering feel, ride quality, cabin impressions or comparative road-test performance. A test drive is the way to judge those qualities for yourself.
