BMW’s 2025 i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe are mid-cycle updates, not a full redesign. Announced on April 24, 2024, the refresh brings revised front-end styling, new cabin trim and upholstery choices, updated controls, and iDrive QuickSelect on Operating System 8.5. BMW said the worldwide market launch would begin in July 2024.
What’s new on the 2025 BMW i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe?
The two models share the broad update: revised kidney grilles and headlights, new exterior colors and wheel designs, and a more digital cabin. The i4 has an enclosed upper section of its grille, while combustion-engine 4 Series Gran Coupe versions use a mesh structure. Vehicles with the specified lighting equipment can also have laser-accented rear lights. BMW’s announcement describes a styling refresh rather than a new generation. Does the 2025 i4 have a new interior?
It has revised materials and controls, but BMW did not present the cabin as a ground-up redesign. Both the i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe add iDrive with QuickSelect, based on Operating System 8.5 and shown on BMW’s Curved Display. Climate and seat- or steering-wheel-heating controls lean more heavily on touchscreen and voice interaction.
BMW’s US launch material lists perforated Sensatec sport seats as standard and quilted Vernasca leather as an available choice. It also identifies new steering-wheel and trim options and a refined Sensatec instrument-panel surface. Those details support describing the cabin as more configurable and digitally updated; “posher” is a subjective characterization, not a measured improvement in luxury. BMW summarized its intent as focusing on “digitalization and achieving a sharper sporting profile.” BMW’s US i4 announcement provides the US cabin specifications.

What changed on the US 2025 4 Series Gran Coupe?
BMW’s US launch specifications show 48-volt mild-hybrid technology on both gasoline models. They are US-market figures and should not be read as global engine specifications.

What is the range of the 2025 BMW i4?
BMW’s global launch release gives WLTP ranges by version. These are WLTP figures, not US EPA estimates; the quoted range varies by model and configuration.

How do the i4’s charging and cargo figures compare?
BMW lists AC charging up to 11 kW across the global i4 range. Its stated DC charging maximum is up to 205 kW, except for the eDrive35, which is listed at up to 180 kW. Maximum charging rates do not by themselves establish how long a particular charge will take; conditions and the charging setup matter.
For home charging, BMW’s launch material describes a BMW Wallbox and Connected Home Charging. It establishes these as part of the charging context, but not compatibility or installation suitability for any individual home. BMW gives luggage capacity as 470 litres, rising to 1,290 litres with the rear seats folded. The charging and capacity figures come from the global launch release.

What were the UK launch prices?
BMW UK listed launch starting prices of £43,830 for the 4 Series Gran Coupe and £50,365 for the i4, with customer deliveries from July 2024. These are historical UK launch prices, not current quotes and not US prices. BMW’s UK announcement gives those figures.
What the refresh means
The 2025 update keeps the cars’ existing basic identities while refreshing their exterior details and bringing the cabins further into BMW’s digital-control approach. For the combustion Gran Coupe, BMW’s US announcement centers on mild-hybrid gasoline models; the i4 offers electric drive, variant-specific WLTP ranges, and stated AC and DC charging limits. Prices and specifications depend on market, so US engine figures, global WLTP data, and UK launch prices belong to separate contexts.
