The 2025 Audi RS 3 keeps its defining 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder and pairs it with chassis revisions aimed at sharper cornering. For the U.S. sedan, Audi claims 394 hp, 369 lb-ft of torque and a 0–60 mph time of 3.6 seconds; Car and Driver recorded 3.2 seconds in its instrumented test. Those figures describe different kinds of evidence: Audi’s specification and one publication’s test, not a guaranteed result for every car.
What makes the 2025 RS 3 distinctive?
The RS 3’s centerpiece is a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five. Audi of America lists 394 hp and 369 lb-ft for the U.S. 2025 sedan. Audi also identifies the engine’s 1-2-4-5-3 firing order, which gives the five-cylinder its characteristic sound; that description is Audi’s, not an independent sound measurement. Audi of America’s March 20, 2025 announcement provides the U.S. specifications.
Car and Driver lists peak power at 7,000 rpm and peak torque at 2,250 rpm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. That combination gives the RS 3 a different character from compact performance cars built around four-cylinder engines: the five-cylinder’s output and firing sequence are central to its appeal, while quattro all-wheel drive and the rear torque-distribution system shape how it puts power down.
How fast is the 2025 Audi RS 3?
Audi’s U.S. claim is 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Car and Driver measured 3.2 seconds from 0 to 60 mph in its 2025 test car. The publication also recorded an 11.7-second quarter mile at 118 mph. These are instrumented results from that test, not promises that every RS 3 will match them; conditions, tires and launch execution can affect acceleration.

Car and Driver recorded 0.98 g on a 300-foot skidpad with its test car’s Bridgestone tires. The publication’s 2022 test recorded 0.94 g, but it specifies different tire sets, so the numbers are not a controlled same-tire comparison. Its 2025 test also returned 34 mpg during a 75-mph highway run. That observed test result is separate from the EPA estimates Car and Driver lists: 20 mpg city, 29 highway and 23 combined.
What changed for 2025?
The update focuses on chassis behavior and presentation rather than replacing the five-cylinder powertrain. Audi says it revised chassis coordination and suspension settings, while retaining the RS Torque Splitter, a system that varies drive torque between the rear wheels using electronically controlled clutches. In a corner, Audi says it can send more drive to the outside rear wheel to help reduce understeer.

Car and Driver described more precise turn-in and a more neutral feel on track. Its account also notes the outside-wheel torque effect and braking at the inside wheel. Those are the publication’s driving observations; they complement, but are not the same thing as, Audi’s description of the system.
Audi Communications reported a 7:33.123-minute lap for the updated RS 3 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, in the compact-class context, and said it was more than seven seconds quicker than the pre-facelift car. This is a manufacturer-reported lap time and comparison, not an independent test result. Audi attributed the car’s turn-in behavior to fine-tuning that includes brake torque vectoring. Audi Communications’ June 6, 2025 release gives the track and compact-class context.

What do the fuel and price figures actually tell you?
Fuel-economy numbers depend on the method: Car and Driver’s 34-mpg result came from its 75-mph highway test, while its listed EPA figures are 20 mpg city, 29 highway and 23 combined. The publication’s highway-test result should not be treated as an EPA rating or a prediction of every owner’s fuel economy.
Car and Driver listed a U.S. base price of $64,695 and a $77,045 price for its test car. The latter included packages priced at the time of the review. These are article-era figures, not a current dealer quote; package availability and pricing can change.

Which market and body style do these specifications describe?
The power and acceleration figures above are for Audi of America’s U.S. RS 3 sedan. Audi New Zealand’s February 4, 2025 specification sheet describes the MY2025 RS 3 Sportback instead. It lists a 2,480 cc five-cylinder engine producing 294 kW and 500 Nm, a seven-speed transmission, quattro drive and a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds. Those are New Zealand-market Sportback specifications and should not be substituted for U.S. sedan figures.
The New Zealand sheet lists fuel consumption of 9.4 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions of 214 g/km under its WLTP-related notes, and cautions that actual results vary with driving and environmental conditions. It also lists 19-inch wheels and tires and a tire-pressure-loss indicator. A routine tire-pressure check remains useful; a general-purpose digital tire pressure gauge is optional, not an RS 3-specific requirement. Audi New Zealand’s MY2025 RS 3 Sportback specification sheet sets out that market’s figures.

How to compare the RS 3 with another performance car
A single acceleration time cannot capture the differences that matter in daily use or on a track. A fair comparison should keep market, body style, date, equipment and test method consistent.
Quick Recap
- Powertrain: Compare engine configuration, output, torque and transmission—not just peak horsepower.
- Traction and cornering hardware: Look at the all-wheel-drive layout, torque distribution, suspension setup and tire fitment.
- Performance evidence: Separate manufacturer claims from independent measurements, and check test conditions and tire configuration.
- Price and equipment: Compare the same country, model year, package content and tax basis; dated review prices are not current quotes.
- Everyday use: Consider cabin comfort, fuel-economy methods, tire and brake choices, and how the transmission behaves. Car and Driver noted launch-control cooldown or availability behavior during its test; that is an observation from that test, not proof of a universal defect.
