Audi USA lists the 2025 A7 starting at $72,000. Lexus currently displays 2026 ES starting prices of $48,895 for the 350e and $51,095 for the 350h. These are manufacturer-listed starting prices for different model years, body styles and powertrains—not equivalent configurations or out-the-door quotes. Which powertrain does the Lexus ES offer?
The ES choice is not simply a conventional sedan versus an Audi: Lexus offers a hybrid and two EV configurations. Running-cost and suitability comparisons depend on which ES you mean.
ES 350h hybrid
The 2026 ES 350h pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a hybrid system and is offered with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Lexus lists 244 net combined horsepower and EPA-estimated fuel economy of 46 mpg combined with FWD or 44 mpg combined with AWD. It is the relevant ES for shoppers who want a hybrid without depending on routine charging.

ES 350e electric
The 350e is a front-wheel-drive battery-electric sedan. Lexus lists 221 system horsepower and 307 miles of EPA-estimated range.
ES 500e electric
The 500e uses dual motors and DIRECT4 all-wheel drive. Lexus lists 338 system horsepower and 276 miles of EPA-estimated range. Both electric ES models have a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery and a NACS charging port, according to Lexus USA Newsroom.

Those range figures are EPA estimates, not a promise of the distance every driver will achieve. For an EV, consider whether you can charge at home or work and how far you typically drive; charging access and routine matter alongside the published range. What does the A7 offer that the ES does not?
Audi presents the A7 as a luxury Sportback, combining coupe-inspired styling with an expanded cargo-utility proposition. That may appeal if you want the A7’s distinctive fastback format and its cargo access. Lexus positions the redesigned ES around a choice of electrified powertrains instead. The available specifications do not establish a measured cargo-volume winner, so compare the actual cargo opening and usable space in person rather than assuming one carries more.

Audi’s international technical page describes the last listed A7 Sportback generation and gives dimensions of 4,969 mm in length and a 2,926 mm wheelbase, alongside multiple engine options, including mild-hybrid variants. Those are international figures, not confirmed U.S. specifications for a particular A7 listing; do not use them to identify the configuration of a U.S. car. How should you compare safety and equipment?
Lexus says every 2026 ES includes Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a 14-inch Lexus Interface display. Confirm the equipment on the specific car you are considering, especially when comparing a new ES with an A7 listing from another model year or with a different trim. The available sources do not establish a matched, current independent crash-test result for both vehicles, so they do not support declaring one safer overall.

Which one should you buy?
- Choose the ES 350h as the starting point for comparison if you want a hybrid and value its published EPA-estimated fuel economy. Decide whether FWD or AWD fits your needs.
- Consider the ES 350e or 500e if you want an EV and have workable charging access. Choose between the FWD 350e and AWD 500e based on the specific vehicle and your priorities, not range alone.
