The 2025 Acura ADX is a credible entry point to the premium small-crossover class, with a lower starting price than some luxury rivals, a well-equipped cabin and composed handling. Its main compromise is pace: the turbocharged engine is adequate for everyday driving, but independent tests found slow acceleration and a CVT that can feel unhurried when merging or passing. It is best suited to buyers who value comfort, features and brand appeal more than brisk performance.
What is the 2025 Acura ADX?
The ADX is an all-new 2025 model and Acura’s smallest crossover. It shares its mechanical platform with the Honda HR-V, according to Car and Driver, but uses a more powerful turbocharged engine. That relationship makes the HR-V a useful value and packaging reference; the ADX is positioned and equipped as a premium vehicle, not simply a rebadged HR-V.

Its closest luxury-class comparison in the cited coverage is the BMW X1. That comparison puts the ADX’s lower entry price in context, while also highlighting a substantial performance gap in the vehicles tested.

How much does the 2025 ADX cost, and which trims are available?
Acura’s 2025 fact sheet lists configuration starting prices from $35,000 to $44,000, before treating them as destination-inclusive totals. The six listed configurations are:

These are the starting prices listed in Acura’s 2025 ADX fact sheet; they are not directly comparable to totals that include destination. For example, the Associated Press reported that Edmunds cited a destination-inclusive ADX starting price of $36,350, compared with $42,525 for the BMW X1. Those figures provide a useful entry-price comparison on that stated basis, not a like-for-like comparison of equipped vehicles.
What the trim differences buy
The base ADX is not bare-bones: Acura lists a 9-inch touchscreen, 10.2-inch digital instrument display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging and heated front seats. The A-Spec with Advance adds leather-trimmed seats, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, panoramic moonroof, Google built-in and a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system. Equipment and prices should be checked against the configuration being considered, since drivetrain and trim affect both.
Is the ADX quick enough?
Every 2025 ADX has a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated by Acura at 190 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 179 lb-ft of torque from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard, front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.

The power figures look reasonable for a small crossover, but reviewers found the real-world response less convincing. Car and Driver describes the ADX as sluggish when merging or passing, with weight and CVT response contributing to the impression. Its AWD test vehicle reached 60 mph in 8.7 seconds. The Associated Press, reporting Edmunds testing, gives 9.4 seconds to 60 mph for its ADX test vehicle. These are different outlets’ test results, not a single definitive figure for every ADX.
The contrast with the BMW X1 is pronounced in AP’s account of Edmunds testing: the tested X1 reached 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, versus 9.4 seconds for the tested ADX. The ADX’s lower cited entry price does not erase that performance difference. Buyers who regularly need quick highway merges or want a lively powertrain should drive the ADX in those conditions before choosing it.
How does it drive, and what is fuel economy like?
Acceleration is the ADX’s clearest weakness, but its chassis is a strength. Car and Driver reports precise, composed handling and a comfortable ride. That balance gives the crossover some driving character without making it harsh; the limitation is that the powertrain does not match the chassis’ poise with equally eager response.

Car and Driver cites EPA combined estimates of 27 mpg for FWD and 28 mpg for AWD, and recorded 29 mpg in its AWD vehicle’s 75-mph highway test. The highway result is that outlet’s test measurement, not an EPA rating. AP’s comparison also cites 27 mpg combined for AWD, so the published figures are not fully aligned; check the current EPA label for the specific configuration when comparing vehicles.
Is the ADX comfortable and practical?
Acura lists front legroom of 41.9 inches and rear legroom of 37.7 inches. Car and Driver says four adults fit without feeling cramped. Its cargo test accommodated seven carry-on suitcases behind the rear seats and 22 with the rear seats folded.
Acura’s cargo-volume figures vary by trim:

The top configuration gives up some listed cargo volume compared with base and A-Spec models, so shoppers who frequently carry bulky items should compare the specific trim rather than assume every ADX has identical capacity.

What technology and safety features are included?
Acura’s specification sheet lists these driver-assistance features across the range: collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, traffic-sign recognition, traffic-jam assist, blind-spot information and cross-traffic monitoring. These are equipment listings, not evidence of crash-test performance; no independently verified crash-test result is established by the sources cited here.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, the 9-inch touchscreen and the 10.2-inch digital cluster are also listed across the range. Google built-in and the 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen system are listed for the top trim configuration, making the choice of trim relevant if those features matter to you.
ADX or Honda HR-V, or ADX or BMW X1?
Against the Honda HR-V
The HR-V is the ADX’s mechanical-platform relation, according to Car and Driver, and is the more natural point of reference for buyers weighing value. Car and Driver says the ADX has a more upscale interior, but questions whether it fully justifies its price premium over the HR-V. The decision is whether the ADX’s premium-brand presentation and equipment are worth paying extra for, rather than whether the two are identical in character.

Against the BMW X1
The X1 is the more direct premium-class rival in the available comparison. AP’s account of Edmunds’ pricing gives the ADX a lower destination-inclusive starting price, while its reported acceleration test shows the X1 substantially quicker. Compare the actual trims and equipment you would buy, then weigh entry cost, AWD availability, ride and cabin refinement, passenger and cargo packaging, and powertrain response. The ADX makes the stronger case on entry price; the cited test results favor the X1 decisively for acceleration.
Is the 2025 Acura ADX worth buying?
The ADX makes sense for shoppers who want a small premium crossover with a comfortable ride, composed handling, useful standard technology and a comparatively accessible starting price. The base model already includes several convenience and driver-assistance features, while upper trims add a more upscale cabin and amenities.
It is a weaker fit if quick acceleration is a priority. The independent test results and reviewer comments point to a powertrain that is adequate rather than spirited, despite the ADX’s reassuring chassis. Compared with the HR-V, the ADX asks buyers to decide whether its more premium interior and equipment justify the extra cost; compared with the BMW X1, it trades performance for a lower cited starting price. A test drive that includes a highway merge is the most useful way to judge whether that trade-off works for you.
