Is the 2024 V90 Cross Country AWD?
Yes. Both listed U.S. trims are AWD. Cars.com specifies a turbocharged 2.0-liter gas/electric mild-hybrid four-cylinder rated at 295 horsepower and seating for five. Volvo says the mild-hybrid system recovers energy during braking and stores it in a 48-volt battery; it is not a plug-in hybrid.
Volvo also identifies Off Road mode, high ground clearance and Hill Descent Control, with Active Chassis and rear air suspension available as an option. These features can be relevant on snow-covered roads, uneven routes or gravel, but they do not guarantee traction or safety. The exact equipment can vary by vehicle, so verify the build and controls on the car you are considering.
What are its fuel economy and performance?
Cars.com and Car and Driver list EPA fuel economy of 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway; Car and Driver also lists 25 mpg combined. These are published EPA figures, not a promise of what an individual owner will achieve.

In Car and Driver’s testing, the V90 Cross Country accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and returned 28 mpg on the publication’s 75-mph highway test. That result is specific to its test conditions and should not be treated as an EPA rating or a guaranteed real-world figure. The review characterized acceleration as slower than the Mercedes-Benz E450 All-Terrain’s and measured a 168-foot stop from 70 mph.

How practical is the cargo area?
The wagon body gives the V90 a long cargo floor, but one standardized comparison found less room than some alternatives. Car and Driver counted carry-on suitcases behind the rear seats and with the seats folded:

Car and Driver reports that the V90 Cross Country carried over mostly unchanged. The publication says Vapour Grey Metallic was added to the options list, while Thunder Grey Metallic and Black Stone were removed.
What are the cabin, ride and technology like?
Car and Driver praised the design and cabin materials, while judging the ride harsher than expected for a large luxury car. It also found the infotainment interface’s small icons difficult to use while driving. Those are the publication’s review impressions; a test drive is the best way to judge ride comfort and whether the controls suit you.

What safety and warranty details should used-car shoppers check?
Car and Driver lists automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and a semi-autonomous driving mode among the standard safety technology. Who should consider the 2024 V90 Cross Country?
It suits a shopper who values a premium wagon’s lower, long-roof format and wants AWD and added all-weather features, rather than the higher-riding shape of a conventional SUV. The main trade-offs to weigh are the test-reported cargo shortfall against some rivals, the screen interface that Car and Driver found fiddly, and the need to shop used in the U.S.
When comparing it with an Audi A6 Allroad, Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain or Subaru Outback, assess the specific vehicles side by side for price, equipment, comfort, cargo fit, fuel economy, capability and warranty.
