The Volvo EX90 was introduced as a fully electric, seven-seat flagship SUV, but its launch-era figures and today’s live US specifications are not interchangeable. Volvo announced the US 2024 model in November 2022 and began production in South Carolina in June 2024. For range, charging and configuration, the figures below distinguish Volvo’s preliminary launch estimates from the current US specification page, which may reflect later model years.
What is the Volvo EX90?
Volvo unveiled the EX90 on November 9, 2022, presenting it as a fully electric SUV and a step toward an all-electric lineup. The company described the vehicle as software-defined, connected to personal and home devices, and built around electrification, safety sensing and central computing. Its launch release called the US vehicle a 2024 model and said it was available to pre-order as a well-equipped vehicle for under $80,000. How many seats does the EX90 have?
Volvo introduced the EX90 as a seven-seater. On Volvo’s current US specifications page, the single-motor version is listed with seven seats, while the twin-motor version is listed with six to seven. What is the difference between the single-motor and twin-motor EX90?
Volvo’s current US page describes the single-motor EX90 as rear-wheel drive and the twin-motor version as all-wheel drive. It lists different seat configurations, towing figures and wheel-dependent range estimates:

What is the 2024 Volvo EX90 range?
There is no single figure in these sources that can be presented as a verified US EPA range rating for the 2024 model. Volvo’s November 2022 launch release gave a preliminary estimate of up to 600 kilometres under the WLTP test cycle. How long does the Volvo EX90 take to charge?
Volvo’s current US specifications page gives an optimal 10–80% DC charging time of 22 minutes when using a 350 kW station that does not limit the vehicle’s charging capacity, with the battery preconditioned. That is a conditional estimate, not a promise for every charging stop: Volvo says actual time varies with powertrain, outdoor and battery temperatures, charging equipment, and battery and vehicle condition. For home charging, Volvo’s current page mentions a wallbox for convenient overnight charging. A suitable home setup depends on the individual vehicle’s connector and market configuration, the charger’s amperage and the home’s electrical installation. What materials did Volvo highlight at launch?
In its 2022 launch release, Volvo said the EX90 used 15% recycled steel and 25% recycled aluminium.
