The 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition makes a stronger case for the Supra’s heritage than a mechanical upgrade would: it pairs the 3.0 Premium’s turbocharged inline-six with conspicuous retro-inspired details and a limited U.S. run of 900 cars. Its appeal is real, but the documented changes are chiefly styling and equipment, not added performance. If you want a more distinctive Supra and value its rarity, this is the version to seek out; if you care more about driving hardware per dollar, the regular 3.0 Premium is the more straightforward choice.
What is special about the 2024 Supra 45th Anniversary Edition?
Toyota announced the U.S. edition on June 21, 2023, as a 900-car run split evenly between Mikan Blast orange and Absolute Zero white. It is based on the 3.0 Premium, so its appeal is not a more powerful engine or a separate performance tune. Rather, Toyota gives the familiar six-cylinder Supra a set of visual cues and cabin equipment that make the special edition feel more considered and more obviously connected to the model’s history. Toyota’s announcement details the production run and special-edition features.
Exterior details
- Matte-black 19-inch wheels and black side graphics distinguish the profile.
- Black brake calipers carry GR logos, while orange strut tower braces add a contrasting accent under the hood.
- A gloss-black rear spoiler sits about three inches above the decklid. Toyota says it is manually adjustable to influence rear-wheel downforce.
Cabin and equipment
The cabin has heated black leather-trimmed sport seats, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker JBL audio system and a full-color head-up display. Toyota also lists blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and parking sensors with emergency braking. Cruise-control equipment differs by transmission, so buyers should check the specific car’s equipment rather than assume the two versions are identical.
Powertrain, transmission and acceleration
The Anniversary Edition uses the GR Supra 3.0 Premium’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, rated by Toyota at 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. Buyers could choose a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. The manual is the choice for drivers who want a clutch and gear lever; the automatic has the quicker manufacturer-estimated acceleration figure. Neither choice is universally better, and the edition itself does not establish a performance advantage over the regular 3.0 Premium.

The estimates are Toyota’s figures for the 3.0; the test results are Car and Driver’s, not Toyota’s and not a test conducted for this review. The publication’s results are closer together than Toyota’s estimates, but they remain separate measurements made by different sources. Toyota’s 2024 model announcement lists the manufacturer estimates, and Car and Driver’s Supra overview reports its test results and driving impressions.
How it compares with the regular 3.0 Premium
Because the 45th Anniversary Edition is built on the 3.0 Premium, the key comparison is whether its appearance and limited production matter enough to justify any real-world price difference. Toyota’s published material establishes the special trim and equipment, but does not establish an Anniversary-specific increase in power, acceleration or handling. A buyer should therefore treat it as a heritage-styled, limited-run version of the 3.0 Premium—not as a higher-performance Supra.

No current transaction-price sample establishes what buyers are paying over a regular 3.0 Premium. Compare the asking prices of specific cars, then weigh the edition’s condition, mileage, transmission, equipment and documentation along with its special-edition details. Toyota’s historical launch pricing does not answer today’s used-market value question.
What is it like to drive?
Car and Driver describes the Supra as sharp-handling and responsive, with a character better suited to winding roads than long highway slogs. It also says the suspension remains forgiving enough for daily driving. That is the publication’s assessment, not a first-hand driving result for this review. Since the 45th Anniversary Edition’s documented changes are chiefly trim and appearance, those observations are useful context for the underlying Supra, not evidence that the special edition drives differently.

2024 pricing and ownership details
Toyota’s August 2023 U.S. launch announcement listed historical starting MSRPs of $45,540 for the 2.0 and $54,500 for the 3.0, plus $1,095 for delivery, processing and handling. Those prices apply to the listed grades at launch; they are not current prices and do not state the 45th Anniversary Edition’s price. Toyota’s 2024 brochure also describes a one-year NASA membership for new GR Supra buyers, including one free high-performance driving experience and discounted entry to NASA-sanctioned events. This is a model-year new-purchase benefit; the cited sources do not establish that it remains available now or transfers to used-car purchasers. As an editorial judgment, yes: the Anniversary Edition gives the Supra the kind of visual identity and heritage signaling that suits the car, without asking buyers to trade away the 3.0 Premium’s core powertrain or equipment. The black graphics, elevated adjustable spoiler, distinctive wheels and orange accents make the car look deliberately special rather than merely optioned-up.

That does not make it the automatic recommendation. The edition’s case rests on limited availability and design, not a documented mechanical improvement. Choose it if those details make the Supra feel more personal and the price of the specific car makes sense to you. Choose a regular 3.0 Premium if the special styling does not justify a verified premium. The edition is the more evocative Supra; the standard car may be the more rational buy.
