Volkswagen Canada lists the Pro at 210 kW (282 hp) and 402 lb-ft of torque, while a U.S. ENERGY STAR listing for the rear-wheel-drive 2024 ID.4 Pro S reports 30 kWh/100 miles, 113 electric MPGe and 291 miles of range. Those figures describe different markets and a specific trim entry—not a like-for-like measurement of the motor revision’s efficiency gain.
What motor and output does the 2024 ID.4 Pro have?
Volkswagen Canada’s 2024 buyer guide lists the rear-wheel-drive ID.4 Pro with a 210 kW electric motor, rated at 282 hp and 402 lb-ft of torque. The same guide lists the Pro AWD at 250 kW (335 hp), so the two Pro versions should not be treated as having the same output.
These are Canadian-market specifications. The figures identify the Pro’s published output, but they do not quantify energy use or prove a particular efficiency improvement over the prior model.
What efficiency and range are published for the 2024 ID.4 Pro?
For the United States, ENERGY STAR’s listing titled “2024 – Volkswagen: ID.4 Pro S” identifies a rear-wheel-drive vehicle and reports 30 kWh/100 miles, 113 electric MPGe and 291 miles of electric range. The listing was accessed in 2026; the retrieved page did not state its publication date. Volkswagen Canada’s buyer guide gives the rear-wheel-drive Pro an estimated combined range of 468 km under NRCan guidelines for 2023. That is a Canadian-market estimate and should not be compared directly with the U.S. Pro S figure as though both used the same test cycle and trim. Volkswagen Canada’s 2024 buyer guide
Does the new rear motor make the ID.4 “way more” efficient?
The published figures here do not support a precise answer in percentage terms. They provide an efficiency and range rating for one U.S. Pro S configuration, but no directly comparable old-versus-new test conducted under the same procedure. Without that matched comparison, a claim such as “X percent more efficient” would go beyond the evidence.

Efficiency ratings also are not a promise of trip distance. Volkswagen says actual range varies with driving and charging habits, weather and temperature, battery age, and vehicle condition.
Battery and charging specifications
Volkswagen Canada lists an 82 kWh gross battery for both the Pro and Pro AWD. Its guide also specifies an 11 kW maximum AC onboard charging acceptance rate and up to 175 kW maximum DC acceptance for Pro variants. These are Canadian-market specifications; charging acceptance is a vehicle limit, not a guarantee that every charger or charging session will deliver that power.
