The original 2024 Triumph Speed 400 uses a 398.15 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine rated at 40 PS (39.5 bhp; 29.4 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Triumph announced a UK launch price of £4,995 on the road, with dealer arrivals expected from late January 2024. Its original colors were Carnival Red, Caspian Blue and Phantom Black.
What the 2024 Triumph Speed 400 is
The Speed 400 is Triumph’s modern-classic roadster in its 400cc family. It is related to the Scrambler 400 X, but it is a distinct motorcycle with its own roadster styling and specification. The figures and original colors below refer to the launch-model Speed 400, not every later version or market configuration.
Engine and performance specifications
Triumph’s launch specification gives the Speed 400 a 398.15 cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, DOHC single-cylinder engine. Its output is a manufacturer rating, not an independently measured result.

Triumph also specifies a balanced crankshaft, finger-follower valvetrain and low-friction DLC coatings. These are design details, not proof of a particular acceleration time or real-world advantage. The available manufacturer material does not establish a 0–60 mph or 0–100 km/h time, maximum speed or comparative road-test result.

Chassis, dimensions and equipment
The launch specification describes a steel hybrid spine/perimeter frame with a bolt-on rear subframe and twin-sided cast-aluminium swingarm. Suspension consists of a 43 mm upside-down Big Piston fork and a gas monoshock with an external reservoir and preload adjustment.

Triumph lists ride-by-wire, switchable traction control, dual-channel ABS and a torque-assist clutch among the standard equipment. Other listed features include dual-format instruments with an analogue speedometer and LCD, all-LED lighting, steering lock and an immobilizer. These are launch-specification details; verify the local-market configuration when assessing a particular bike.

UK launch price, arrival and ownership terms
Triumph’s UK pricing announcement set the launch price at £4,995 on the road, with dealer arrival expected from late January 2024. This is a UK launch figure, not a universal price or a statement of today’s price. A current U.S. product-page price does not establish the 2024 U.S. launch MSRP.
The same UK announcement stated a 10,000-mile service interval and a two-year unlimited-mileage warranty. Those terms are tied to that announcement and should not be assumed to apply in other countries.

Original 2024 colors and photos
The launch release names three original two-tone paint schemes:
- Carnival Red
- Caspian Blue
- Phantom Black
Triumph’s launch media kit includes downloadable images. When viewing photos, check that they depict the original launch motorcycle: later model-year updates introduced different colors and equipment.

How the MY25 update differs
Bajaj Auto’s September 17, 2024 announcement identifies the MY25 Speed 400 as an update, rather than the original 2024 launch configuration. It lists high-profile tires, adjustable front levers, enhanced seating comfort and four colors: Racing Yellow, Pearl Metallic White, Racing Red and Phantom Black. Bajaj reported an MY25 price of ₹2,40,000 ex-showroom Delhi; that figure is specific to India and that announcement.
Bajaj stated the MY25 Speed 400 retained outputs of 40 PS at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Its announcement also describes the Speed T4 as a separate model with a different tune and equipment, so Speed T4 details should not be treated as Speed 400 specifications.

What the published figures do—and do not—tell you
The figures above establish Triumph’s stated engine output, launch equipment and key chassis specifications. They do not establish how quickly the bike accelerates, its maximum speed, or how it compares in independent real-world testing with another motorcycle. A fair comparison should use the same model year and market and account for price basis, power and torque units, weight, seat height, tires, suspension, brakes, equipment, service interval and warranty.
