10 Best Bikes for Hard Enduro: 2026 Shortlist

A use-case shortlist of 10 2026 hard-enduro bikes, with model-year, engine, competition-focus and road-homologation details to check before buying.

For hard enduro, the clearest starting point is a 300cc two-stroke: KTM’s 300 EXC, Husqvarna’s TE 300 and Sherco’s 300 SE XTREM all appear in current manufacturer material, with Sherco explicitly placing its XTREM models in a hard-enduro category. That makes them strong candidates to compare—not proven winners over every other bike. The right choice depends on engine preference, road-use requirements, model availability and support where you ride.

This is a use-case shortlist, not an independently tested ranking. The available manufacturer sources establish model names, stated intent and selected equipment, but do not provide comparable evidence for race performance, reliability, weight, price or rider friendliness.

How to use this hard-enduro shortlist

The models below are current 2026 choices supported by manufacturer lineup announcements or product pages. The list spans two-strokes and four-strokes, plus several displacements; their inclusion does not mean they are equally suited to every rider or that a smaller engine is automatically easier to manage.

A 300cc two-stroke is a reasonable center for comparison because KTM, Husqvarna and Sherco all have relevant models in their current material. That is a synthesis of manufacturer positioning, not evidence that 300cc is best for everyone. KTM’s announcement also changes the names of its 125cc and 250cc two-strokes to XC-W for 2026, while the 300 remains EXC. Confirm the exact model year and market variant before comparing listings.

10 bikes to consider for hard enduro

1. KTM 300 EXC (2026) — a central 300cc two-stroke candidate

KTM describes its 2026 enduro range as intended for hard enduro and lists the 300 EXC among seven models. The company says it is the only EURO 5+ homologated two-stroke in that announced range. Homologation does not by itself confirm registration eligibility in your country, so check the exact variant and local rules. KTM’s 2026 300 EXC page.

2. Husqvarna TE 300 (2026) — a direct 300cc alternative

Husqvarna includes the TE 300 in its 2026 lineup, says it retains EURO 5+ homologation and describes its two-strokes as using TBI. The company’s 2025 TE 300 Heritage page calls that model “the machine of choice for hard enduro riders worldwide”; that is manufacturer positioning, not independent comparative evidence. Confirm the current model’s equipment and local homologation before purchase. Husqvarna’s 2026 TE 300 page.

3. Sherco 300 SE XTREM (2026) — explicitly in Sherco’s hard-enduro category

Sherco lists the 300 SE XTREM in its hard-enduro category, making it one of the most directly categorized choices here. The category listing establishes Sherco’s intended placement, not a result against rival bikes. Sherco’s hard-enduro models.

  • Air circulation is more comfortable, multiple vents can easily solve the heat problem, and the light airflow helps the driver to stay cool and comfortable. Aerodynamic design reduces noise. Street Bike Helmets has a streamlined design to reduce drag and make riding more effortless
  • The quick release buckle is sturdy, hard wearing, and easy to use, allowing riders to easily and quickly put on or take off the helmet, and the length can be adjusted for a comfortable fit
  • Dirtbike Helmets with washable, and replaceable microfiber inner material that absorbs sweat without compromising comfort or security. Removable Breath Guard rerouting the rider’s breath to reduce shield fogging

4. Sherco 250 SE XTREM (2026) — the lower-displacement XTREM option

The 250 SE XTREM appears alongside the 300 SE XTREM in Sherco’s hard-enduro category. Choose it as a different displacement and engine-character preference to investigate, not on the assumption that it is easier to handle: the available material does not establish that claim. Sherco’s hard-enduro models.

5. Husqvarna TE 250 (2026) — a competition-focused two-stroke

Husqvarna lists the TE 250 in its 2026 range. The company describes the TE 250 as competition-only and not street homologated, which matters if you need registration or road links. Verify the rules and exact specification in your jurisdiction. Husqvarna’s 2026 TE 250 page.

6. Husqvarna TE 125 (2026) — for riders specifically seeking this class

The TE 125 is another competition-only two-stroke in Husqvarna’s 2026 lineup. It makes sense to consider if you deliberately want a 125cc machine; the manufacturer information available here does not establish that it is a better beginner bike or a more forgiving hard-enduro choice. Husqvarna’s 2026 TE 125 page.

LS2 Helmets Gate Launch Full Face Helmet (Blue/HiViz - 2X-Large)
  • DOT approved. Meets the FMVSS 218 Standard
  • Kinetic Polymer Alloy (KPA) shell offers high strength, light weight and built-in flexibility for energy management
  • 3 shell sizes for the lightest, smallest helmet possible in your head size
  • Multi-port flow-through ventilation
  • Cheek pads are slightly curved to accommodate eyeglasses

7. KTM 250 XC-W (2026) — note the model-name change

KTM’s 2026 announcement uses XC-W, rather than EXC, for its 250cc two-stroke and says these models are crafted for competition. When comparing listings, do not assume an older 250 EXC is the same model-year designation or specification. KTM’s 2026 250 XC-W page.

8. KTM 125 XC-W (2026) — a distinct competition displacement choice

The 125 XC-W is listed in KTM’s 2026 competition-focused two-stroke roster. Consider it for its class and intended use rather than treating it as a universal hard-enduro recommendation. As with the 250, the XC-W name is important when searching for the 2026 model. KTM’s 2026 125 XC-W page.

9. Husqvarna FE 350 (2026) — a four-stroke option

The FE 350 is a current four-stroke in Husqvarna’s 2026 enduro lineup. Husqvarna describes map selection, traction control and quickshifter availability across its four-stroke range, but the available material does not confirm that every feature is fitted to every FE 350 trim or market version. Check the bike’s exact specification. Husqvarna’s 2026 FE 350 page.

10. Sherco 300 SEF (2026) — a four-stroke alternative

Sherco’s 2026 SEF announcement covers the 300 SEF and identifies a SPES header and Akrapovic silencer for that model. This makes it a current four-stroke enduro option to compare, but the manufacturer material does not establish that it outperforms two-stroke alternatives in hard enduro. Sherco’s 2026 SEF announcement.

What should you compare before choosing?

Engine type and displacement

The shortlist includes 125cc, 250cc and 300cc two-strokes, plus four-stroke options. The model rosters establish what is available; they do not prove which displacement suits a particular rider, terrain or skill level. If possible, arrange a ride or speak with riders who use the same model in conditions like yours.

Intended use and road homologation

Check whether the bike is positioned as a hard-enduro model, a competition enduro machine or a different type of motorcycle. Then verify registration and road-use status against the exact model variant and your local law. For example, Husqvarna distinguishes the TE 300’s stated EURO 5+ homologation from its competition-only TE 125 and TE 250; that does not settle the legal status of every market version.

Features, trim and market variation

Look up the exact model year and trim for any suspension or electronic equipment you care about. KTM warns that model information may change and vary by country; Husqvarna also notes that availability can differ. Treat manufacturer descriptions as specifications or intended positioning, not independent proof of on-trail results.

Local parts and dealer support

Ask nearby dealers about parts availability, service capacity and lead times for common wear items. The manufacturer materials cited here do not establish a dealer-network winner, and local support can matter more to ownership than a small specification difference.

Price and actual availability

No target country or verified price and inventory data is established here, so a global price comparison would be misleading. Request a current, itemized quote for the exact model year and variant sold in your market.

Are trials bikes also hard-enduro bikes?

Sherco’s hard-enduro category also displays ST trials models, including a 2025 300 ST-F Factory Adam Raga Replica. A trials-derived motorcycle may interest a rider for particular terrain or riding goals, but a category page alone does not establish that it is equivalent to an enduro bike. Compare the intended use and specific model before treating it as a substitute for the enduro choices above. Sherco’s hard-enduro category.
