The 2024 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 pairs a 382-hp turbocharged inline-six with rear-wheel drive and, for drivers who want more involvement, an available six-speed manual. Its two-seat cabin and limited cargo space make it a focused choice rather than an all-purpose coupe. Car and Driver’s testing found the automatic quicker to 60 mph, while Toyota’s estimates give it better fuel economy; the manual’s case is the experience of shifting for yourself.
What is the 2024 Supra 3.0?
The US-market 2024 GR Supra 3.0 is a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive coupe powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six. Toyota lists 382 hp at 5,800–6,500 rpm and 368 lb-ft of torque at 1,800–5,000 rpm. Buyers can pair the engine with an eight-speed automatic or an available six-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). Toyota lists an electronically limited top racetrack speed of 155 mph. Toyota’s 2024 brochure is the source for these specifications.
The 3.0 trims also have an active rear sport differential and 19-inch wheels. Toyota specifies summer Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, sized 255/35 ZR19 at the front and 275/35 ZR19 at the rear. The staggered fitment matters when shopping for replacements: check the correct axle size and confirm that the tire model is suitable for your climate and use.
Manual vs. automatic: which suits you?
| Measure | Six-speed manual | Eight-speed automatic |
|---|---|---|
| Toyota-estimated fuel economy, city/highway/combined | 19/27/21 mpg | 23/31/26 mpg |
| Car and Driver test: 0–60 mph | 3.9 seconds | 3.7 seconds |
| Core appeal | More direct driver involvement through manual shifting | Quicker result in Car and Driver’s cited acceleration test, with higher Toyota-estimated fuel economy |
The mileage figures are Toyota’s estimates for the 2024 US-market 3.0, not guarantees for individual driving. The acceleration figures are results reported by Car and Driver, not Toyota claims; actual results can vary with conditions and technique. In the same outlet’s 75-mph highway test, a six-cylinder Supra returned 34 mpg. That is a publication test result, not the EPA estimate or a promise for every driver. Car and Driver’s 2024 review reports its test figures and driving impressions.

- 1/24 Toyota GR Supra
- Skill level: advanced
- Package Dimensions: 8.2 L x 34.0 H x 19.6 W (centimeters)
- Country of Origin: Philippines
The manual is not the quicker choice in that test, and its Toyota-estimated fuel economy is lower. Its appeal is the added control and participation of choosing gears yourself, paired with the turbo-six. If acceleration times and efficiency matter more than shifting involvement, the automatic has the stronger evidence-based case. If the manual experience is the point, the trade-offs are clear rather than hidden.
How it feels to live with
Driving character
Car and Driver praises the Supra’s handling and steering, interior materials, and the six-cylinder/manual combination. It describes the suspension as forgiving enough for daily driving, while finding the car more at home on twisty roads than on long highway journeys. Those are the publication’s impressions, not a universal prediction of how every driver will experience the car.

Cabin access and visibility
The cockpit is close-fitting and focused on the driver. Car and Driver flags blind spots, difficult entry and exit, and BMW-derived interior controls. Before buying, sit in the car and try the mirrors, sightlines, seat adjustment, and everyday controls; a compact sports-car cabin can feel very different from a roomier coupe.
Cargo space
Toyota lists 10.2 cubic feet of trunk capacity. Car and Driver says the hatch can accommodate a couple of carry-on bags or groceries and reports fitting four carry-on suitcases in its own test. That test is an example, not a guarantee that every suitcase or load will fit. The Supra can handle some everyday errands, but its cargo area is modest and it has no rear seats.

Which 2024 trims offer the six-cylinder and manual?
Toyota’s US brochure lists four equipment groupings: 2.0, 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and 45th Anniversary. The 3.0 variants use the 382-hp inline-six and offer the manual; Premium and the special edition differ in equipment. Check the brochure and a dealer’s details for the exact configuration in your market, since trim names and included equipment can vary by country.
For Canadian context only, Toyota Canada’s July 13, 2023 announcement lists a four-grade 2024 lineup. It gives a Canadian starting MSRP of C$69,500 for both the 3.0 Premium AT and 3.0 Premium MT, and C$77,220 for the 45th Anniversary Special Edition. These are Canadian prices, not US MSRP. The release describes the Canadian Premium MT’s six-speed iMT and its large-diameter clutch with reinforced diaphragm spring. Toyota Canada’s announcement has the market-specific pricing and equipment description.

45th Anniversary Special Edition
Toyota Canada describes the special edition with exclusive Plasma Orange paint, black side graphics, a manually adjustable rear spoiler, matte-black 19-inch wheels, orange strut tower braces, black brake calipers, and a serialization plaque. Car and Driver reports that 900 examples would be produced. That production figure is the publication’s report, not a figure stated in Toyota Canada’s announcement. Availability and equipment should be checked for the intended market.
Is the 2024 Supra 3.0 the right coupe for you?
The Supra 3.0 is most compelling for a buyer who wants a compact, two-seat, rear-drive sports coupe with a strong turbocharged six and the option to shift manually. Car and Driver’s praise for its handling, steering, materials, and powertrain pairing supports that appeal. The practical compromises are equally central to the decision: tight packaging, limited cargo room, blind spots, and more effort getting in and out.
Choose the manual if driver participation is worth accepting slower acceleration in Car and Driver’s test and lower Toyota-estimated fuel economy. Choose the automatic if you prefer the quicker tested 0–60 time and higher official mileage estimates. Neither transmission changes the basic character: this is a focused coupe, not a roomy or cargo-oriented daily vehicle.
