The 2024 Camry offered a 301-hp V6; the redesigned 2025 Camry dropped gasoline-only engines and is hybrid-only, with 225 net-combined hp in front-wheel drive (FWD) or 232 in all-wheel drive (AWD). Toyota’s published specifications do not establish which is quicker, and its cited figures do not provide a V6 fuel-economy number for a direct mpg comparison.
How do the 2024 V6 and 2025 hybrid powertrains compare?

The output figures describe different things: Toyota rates the V6 at 301 hp, while the hybrid figures are net-combined system output. They do not, by themselves, predict acceleration or establish an equivalent engine-to-engine comparison. Toyota’s 2024 overview describes the V6 in XLE and XSE FWD grades and as standard on the performance-oriented TRD; its 2025 announcement lists the hybrid in LE, SE, XLE and XSE.
Is the 2025 Camry Hybrid quicker than the 2024 V6?
The cited Toyota specifications cannot answer that. Horsepower alone does not show how quickly two differently configured cars accelerate, how they respond when passing, or how their power delivery feels. No independent, instrumented comparison of the exact 2024 V6 and 2025 hybrid configurations is established here, so a definitive quicker-or-slower verdict would go beyond the evidence.
For a meaningful comparison, test clearly identified trims and drivetrains under the same conditions. Acceleration and passing response are useful measures, but so are braking, road and wind noise, and ride comfort. Tires, weather, traffic and test method can affect the result. Driving impressions also matter: the 2024 V6 is the higher-output gasoline option, while the 2025 uses a hybrid system.

How much better is the 2025 Camry on gas?
Toyota’s cited 2025 announcement gives a manufacturer-estimated 51 mpg combined for the LE FWD. Its cited 2024 overview does not supply a V6 mpg figure suitable for comparison. That means the available figures do not support a numerical estimate of the hybrid’s mpg advantage, a percentage saving or an annual fuel-cost difference.
To calculate a useful real-world or cost comparison, first select a specific 2024 V6 trim and drivetrain and obtain its applicable EPA fuel-economy rating. Then use an explicit annual mileage and fuel-price assumption. Actual economy also depends on driving conditions; Toyota’s 51-mpg figure is an estimate for the 2025 LE FWD, not a guarantee for every grade or driver.

Did Toyota drop the V6 for the 2025 Camry?
Yes. Toyota’s 2024 overview lists gasoline and hybrid powertrains, including the 3.5-liter V6. For the redesigned ninth-generation 2025 model, Toyota announced an exclusively hybrid lineup: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with its fifth-generation hybrid system. The V6 is not offered in the 2025 Camry lineup described in that announcement.
What about AWD and launch pricing?
The 2024 V6 configurations Toyota identifies are FWD. Toyota says electronic on-demand AWD is available across all four 2025 grades—LE, SE, XLE and XSE—and describes a dedicated rear electric motor that supplies rear-wheel power when needed.

Which Camry makes more sense for you?
- Consider the 2024 V6 if you specifically want a gasoline V6 and its higher stated output. The cited specifications do not establish how it performs against the newer hybrid in acceleration or everyday driving.
- Consider the 2025 hybrid if hybrid-only powertrains, the stated LE FWD economy estimate, or availability of electronic on-demand AWD across the announced grades fit your priorities.
- Compare actual cars, not just model years. Trim, drivetrain, equipment, condition and current asking price can change the value of a particular used 2024 or 2025 Camry. The launch MSRPs above do not indicate current market prices.
