The 2024 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R returned with new color schemes, not a major mechanical redesign. Suzuki’s U.S. announcement emphasized familiar engine and electronics; the substantially revised version it announced later is a separate model update scheduled to begin sales in 2026.
What’s new for the 2024 GSX-R1000?
Suzuki Motor USA presented the GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R as returning models in its 2024 lineup announcement. The changes it highlighted were paint and graphics, alongside established performance equipment—not a major technical overhaul. Suzuki’s 2024 lineup announcement lists these colors:
- GSX-R1000: Glass Matte Mechanical Gray or Metallic Matte Black No. 2 / Glass Sparkle Black.
- GSX-R1000R: Those colors, plus Pearl Brilliant White / Metallic Triton Blue.
The announcement describes the familiar inline-four engine with Suzuki Variable Valve Timing, an inertial measurement unit (IMU), adjustable traction control, a bidirectional quick shifter, and Suzuki Drive Mode Selector. The R version adds Motion Track ABS, launch control, and higher-spec suspension and brake components. Those R-specific features should not be assumed to apply to the base GSX-R1000.
How do the 2024 GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R differ?
They are distinct versions, and the equipment list is not interchangeable. Suzuki’s announcement identifies additional chassis, braking, and electronic features for the R; its separate U.S. specification page is for the 2024 GSX-R1000RZ, not the base model. That page gives these figures:

These are figures from Suzuki Motor USA’s 2024 GSX-R1000RZ specification page. They describe the U.S. RZ listing and should not be treated as universal market specifications or transferred automatically to the base bike. The 120/70ZR17M/C size is a starting point when checking front-tire fitment; confirm the full specification and suitability for the motorcycle before buying a replacement.
What changed after the 2024 model?
On July 31, 2025, Suzuki Motor Corporation announced major engine and electronic-control updates for the GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R, with sales set to begin in 2026 in Europe, North America, and other markets. Suzuki said it revised internal engine components to meet emissions and noise regulations while maintaining performance and improving durability, updated electronic systems, and added an ELIIY Power lithium-ion battery. The announcement is about the later update; it does not make the 2024 bike a redesigned model.

Suzuki’s release also reports cumulative production of more than 1.2 million units across the GSX-R1100, 1000, 750, 600, 150, and 125 through 2025. - Confirm whether a listing is for the base GSX-R1000 or the GSX-R1000R/RZ; equipment and the specifications cited above differ.
- Check the exact model year and market. The U.S. RZ specifications do not establish equipment or dimensions for every region.
- Ask a local Suzuki distributor or dealer about current inventory and pricing. The cited manufacturer announcements do not establish present-day stock or market-specific prices.
