Stellantis said in December 2024 that it expected U.S. consumer orders in the first half of 2025; that was a forecast, not confirmation that orders opened or deliveries began. As of October 5, 2026, production, final specifications, pricing and delivery timing remain unresolved in the available official information.
1. What is the Ram 1500 Ramcharger?
Ram introduced the Ramcharger in November 2023 as an electric-drive pickup with an onboard gasoline-powered generator. In Ram’s announced design, electric drive modules propel the truck; a 3.6-liter V6 runs a generator to make electricity rather than directly driving the wheels. That makes it a range-extended electric vehicle, not a conventional hybrid with an engine mechanically driving the wheels.
Ram’s launch announcement described a liquid-cooled 92-kWh battery and a 130-kW generator. The idea is to charge the battery from the grid for electric driving, with the generator intended to provide electricity when needed on longer trips. The announced architecture does not by itself establish how much gasoline the truck would use when the generator is running.
2. How far was it supposed to travel?
Combined range
Ram advertised up to 690 miles of total range. This is a manufacturer target announced in 2023, not an independently tested result or a guarantee for every driver. No final production range or tested fuel economy is established in the available official information.

Electric-only range
Ram also announced 145 miles of electric-only range. That is separate from the combined figure: it describes the advertised battery-driving portion, while the 690-mile target includes the range-extending system. Neither figure is a verified production measurement.
3. Is the Ramcharger fully electric?
It is electric-drive, but it is not a battery-only truck: the announced setup includes a gasoline V6 that powers an onboard generator. The separately announced Ram 1500 REV was the battery-electric model. Stellantis explicitly distinguished the range-extended Ramcharger from the all-electric REV in its December 2024 schedule update. Later naming or program changes are not established by that update.

4. What performance did Ram announce?
Ram listed 663 horsepower, 615 lb-ft of torque and a 0–60-mph time of 4.4 seconds. These were manufacturer-announced figures from 2023, not independently verified production results.
5. How much could it tow and carry?
Ram advertised up to 14,000 pounds of towing capacity and up to 2,625 pounds of payload. “Up to” matters: the announcement did not establish that every configuration would reach either maximum, and no final production configuration or independent towing test is confirmed.

6. How quickly could it charge?
Ram said the truck could add up to 50 miles of all-electric range in approximately 10 minutes using 400-volt DC fast charging at up to 145 kW. That is the automaker’s estimate under stated charging conditions, not a promise for every charging session. The final production connector, charging curve and compatibility details are not established.
For home charging, a Level 2 charger is a relevant category to consider because Ram described a plug-in vehicle. However, wait for confirmed vehicle requirements before choosing equipment: compatibility with a particular charger, installation needs and connector standard have not been verified.

7. What bidirectional power features were announced?
Ram’s launch materials described vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-home charging. Those announcements point to possible power sharing, including sending energy from the truck to a home, but the production feature set, required home equipment and compatible products have not been confirmed. There is no verified Ramcharger home-backup package to buy based on the announcement alone.

The original announcement positioned the vehicle for the 2025 model year. In December 2024, Stellantis said it would prioritize the Ramcharger ahead of the battery-electric Ram 1500 REV and projected U.S. consumer orders in the first half of 2025. That dated projection does not prove orders opened, production began or the vehicle reached customers. The Associated Press reported the range-extender rationale at the time, quoting then-Ram brand CEO Tim Kuniskis: “There’s so many advantages to a battery electric vehicle, but there are certain things that are slowing people down.” That is period context, not evidence of present availability or consumer demand.

9. What should a prospective buyer confirm?
There is not enough confirmed production information to make a buying decision from the launch targets alone. Before placing an order or buying vehicle-specific equipment, look for official confirmation of:
- Whether U.S. retail orders are open and when deliveries are expected.
- The final name, model year, trims, price and warranty.
- Certified range, fuel economy and charging performance.
- The production charging connector and compatible home-charging equipment.
- Final towing and payload ratings for the specific configuration.
- Whether vehicle-to-home power is available and what equipment it requires.
Do not assume existing Ram 1500 accessories fit this vehicle without confirmation; the launch information does not verify fitment for mats, bed accessories or replacement parts.
10. How does it differ from the Ram 1500 REV?
The key distinction in Stellantis’s December 2024 announcement is the powertrain concept: the Ramcharger was described as a range-extended electric pickup with a gasoline generator, while the Ram 1500 REV was described as all-electric. The launch-era information does not establish final pricing or production specifications for either model, so it does not support a definitive cost or capability comparison.
