For used-car shoppers, the key caveats are that the available reliability rating is based on older model-year data, recall status must be checked by VIN, and used prices vary with condition, mileage and location.
What does the 2024 Crosstrek offer?
The 2024 model starts the Crosstrek’s third generation. It pairs standard AWD with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) across all five trims. Subaru lists 8.7 inches of ground clearance and cargo capacity of 19.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats or 54.7 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks lowered. Those specifications make the Crosstrek useful for everyday hauling and rougher roads, but they do not make every trim an off-road specialist.
Subaru’s 2024 brochure lists the specifications and equipment. Edmunds describes the Crosstrek as capable on loose surfaces, while noting that the base engine accelerates slowly and that highway interior noise is a drawback. A test drive on the roads you use most can help establish whether the ride and cabin suit you.
Which 2024 Crosstrek trim has which engine?
The engine split is important when comparing used listings. Subaru’s published figures show the 2.5-liter has 30 more horsepower and 33 lb-ft more torque than the 2.0-liter. Both engines use a CVT and standard AWD.

The Edmunds 2024 Crosstrek page recommends considering a 2.5-liter version because of the 2.0-liter’s slow acceleration. Wilderness adds off-road-oriented equipment; decide whether you will use that added capability rather than choosing on appearance alone. Also compare each specific vehicle’s equipment, price, fuel economy and condition.
Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?
There is no 2024-specific long-term reliability rate established by the available evidence. Edmunds reports a RepairPal reliability rating of 4.5 out of 5 and a rank of fifth among 29 compact SUVs, but explains that RepairPal’s underlying make-and-model data cover select vehicles from 2008 through 2022. That rating is useful as broad historical context, not as a reliability measurement of the redesigned 2024 model or a prediction for an individual car.

How to check recalls before buying
Edmunds lists two recalls associated with the 2024 Crosstrek. The listing does not establish that every vehicle is affected or that a particular vehicle still has an open recall. Eligibility and repair completion are specific to the vehicle identification number (VIN).

What warranty may remain on a used 2024 Crosstrek?
Subaru’s 2024 brochure states a new-car limited warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles and a powertrain limited warranty of 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Whether any coverage remains on a used vehicle depends on its original in-service date, mileage and the applicable warranty terms. Verify coverage for the specific VIN rather than relying on its model year alone.

How much should you pay for a 2024 Crosstrek in 2026?
Kelley Blue Book’s national-average fair purchase prices for vehicles in good condition ranged from $22,400 to $27,600 by trim. KBB said the figures were valid through October 7, 2026, based on typical mileage, and reflected what buyers were paying at dealerships. They are guideposts, not a VIN-specific appraisal or a guaranteed price. KBB says values vary with condition, mileage and location and are updated weekly.

Before negotiating, account for odometer reading, accident and service history, tire and brake condition, local supply and trim equipment. Edmunds and KBB may show different values because their methods, locations, mileage assumptions and vehicle mixes differ; do not combine their figures as if they were one estimate. Compare a VIN-specific valuation with similar local listings.
What should you compare on a test drive?
Cross-shop the Crosstrek against compact crossovers in comparable trims and configurations. Edmunds names the Ford Bronco Sport and Jeep Compass as more trail-oriented alternatives, and also identifies the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mazda CX-30 and Honda HR-V as competitors. The useful comparison is the specific vehicle, not the nameplate alone.
- Traction and clearance: Compare AWD availability and ground clearance in the exact trims under consideration.
- Acceleration: Test the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter Crosstrek versions if both are on your shortlist, and compare them with rivals’ powertrains.
- Ride and cabin: Listen for highway noise and assess interior comfort on the roads you regularly drive.
- Cargo use: Check the cargo opening, floor and folded-seat layout, not only the maximum volume figure.
- Price and condition: Compare vehicles with similar mileage and history in the same local market.
- Safety and recalls: Check the VIN and verify repair records for the vehicle itself.

Subaru’s brochure documents a Crosstrek cargo tray, rear seatback protector, Thule roof cargo basket and Thule bike carrier. Check model-year, trim and roof-rack compatibility before buying any accessory; the brochure does not establish current stock or retailer pricing.
Subaru also cautions that driver-assistance technology does not replace attentive driving: “The driver is always responsible for safe and attentive driving.”
