The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek is a 4WD family SUV with a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires and a manufacturer-rated maximum towing capacity of 6,000 pounds. Nissan priced it above the lower Pathfinder grades at launch, and its published fuel-economy figures conflict across Nissan materials. It makes the clearest case for itself if you will use the added trail and towing capability; the specifications alone do not establish that it is more comfortable or a better value for everyday family driving.
What the Rock Creek adds
Nissan positioned the Rock Creek as a trail-oriented Pathfinder. Its 2024 press kit describes it as enabling “bolder exploration away from the pavement with lifted suspension and all-terrain tires.” The grade is 4WD, and the brochure shows a distinctive front fascia and grille.
Those details distinguish it from a Pathfinder chosen primarily for its price or upper-trim equipment. They are not proof of off-road performance in particular conditions: the manufacturer material cited here does not provide independent trail testing, ground-clearance measurements, or comparative driving impressions.
2024 launch price and what it means
Nissan announced a U.S. launch MSRP of $43,630 for the 2024 Rock Creek 4WD. Destination and handling were listed separately at $1,365. For context, Nissan’s launch release listed the S 4WD at $37,710 and SV 4WD at $40,530.

These are historical launch prices announced by Nissan, not current used-vehicle values or a prediction of what a particular example should cost today. The nominal launch gap was $5,920 over the S 4WD and $3,100 over the SV 4WD, before the separately listed destination charge. Whether that premium is worthwhile depends on whether the tires, suspension and tow rating match your actual use. Nissan’s collected material does not establish the Rock Creek’s comparative ride comfort or interior quality against other grades.
Towing: a higher manufacturer maximum, not a trailer guarantee
Nissan’s 2024 Pathfinder press kit and brochure list a maximum tow rating of 6,000 pounds for the Rock Creek. Treat that as a manufacturer maximum, not a promise that every trailer weighing less than that figure is suitable for every vehicle configuration or trip.

Before towing, check the owner’s manual and Nissan towing guidance for the specific vehicle. The trailer, passengers, cargo, loading and applicable limits all matter; a maximum rating does not replace those instructions. Pathfinder’s listed drive and terrain modes include Standard, Sport, Eco, Snow, Sand, Mud/Rut and Tow, but a Tow mode does not raise the vehicle’s rated capacity.
Fuel economy: Nissan’s own published figures differ
Nissan’s 2024 press kit lists Rock Creek fuel economy as 20 mpg city, 23 highway and 21 combined. The 2024 brochure instead gives targeted estimates of 17/23/19 mpg for the 4WD Rock Creek and says EPA data was unavailable when the brochure was published. The two Nissan sources therefore do not agree.

Neither set of figures should be presented as independently verified here or as a guarantee of real-world consumption. Buyers weighing fuel costs should check an authoritative final EPA listing for the specific vehicle and consider that actual economy varies with driving, conditions and load.

Nissan listed S, SV, Rock Creek, SL and Platinum in the 2024 U.S. Pathfinder lineup. The brochure describes seating for up to eight in the Pathfinder range; confirm the seating configuration of the particular vehicle you are considering rather than assuming every example has the same layout.

Nissan said Safety Shield 360 was standard across the 2024 Pathfinder range. Its listed features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist and rear automatic braking. This is a manufacturer feature list, not an independent crash-test rating.
Nissan also described NissanConnect, an 8-inch standard touchscreen and an available 9-inch screen, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. These are manufacturer-listed Pathfinder features; check the individual vehicle’s equipment, since availability can vary by grade and configuration.

Who should choose the Rock Creek?
- It is a stronger fit if you specifically want 4WD with the Rock Creek’s lifted suspension and all-terrain tires, or you need its stated 6,000-pound maximum tow rating and have confirmed your planned setup against Nissan’s instructions.
- Compare lower grades if you are unlikely to use the trail-oriented hardware or need to keep closer to the S or SV launch-price positioning. The gap figures above are historical MSRPs, not today’s market prices.
- Compare upper grades if you prioritize their equipment mix over trail-oriented hardware. The manufacturer material here does not support a conclusion about which grade rides better or has a superior interior; use a test drive and the exact vehicle’s equipment list to decide.
