The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition pairs a 470-hp 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 with serious factory trail equipment, including 35-inch tires and a Warn winch. Jeep announced it at $99,995 plus destination in the U.S.; its appetite for fuel and the compromises of Wrangler road manners make the price difficult to justify unless V-8 power and sound are central to what you want. “Final Edition” is the name of Jeep’s 2024 package, not proof that the V-8 was the last Wrangler HEMI. Jeep’s March 2024 announcement described a 3,700-unit global allocation, but does not establish present availability or later production history.
What the Final Edition is
This is a four-door Rubicon 392 configured around Jeep’s 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 and eight-speed automatic transmission. Jeep rates the engine at 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, and claimed a 0–60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. The official feature chart lists the HEMI with the four-door Rubicon 392 and eight-speed automatic combination; it is not a manual-transmission offering. Jeep’s 2024 Wrangler feature chart identifies the configuration.
The appeal is unusual: a quick, loud factory V-8 Wrangler that retains Rubicon hardware rather than trading trail capability for straight-line performance. Jeep’s claimed acceleration is a manufacturer figure, not an independent result. Reviews broadly support the character of the package, while also underscoring its cost and fuel consumption.
What the Final Edition adds
Jeep’s announced package combines trail equipment and cabin details. The specific contents matter because the price buys more than the engine, although they do not erase the vehicle’s road-use compromises.

- Jeep-listed figures of 11.6 inches of ground clearance and 34.5 inches of water-fording depth.
Jeep also describes an optional onboard air compressor for trailside tire-pressure management. With 35-inch tires, a portable 12V compressor is another practical accessory route; check the compressor’s duty cycle and compatibility with the tire size rather than assuming any compact unit is suitable. Jeep’s Final Edition page lists the announced equipment and specifications.
Price: the launch figure is not a current market value
Jeep’s March 2024 U.S. announcement listed an MSRP of $99,995, plus $1,895 destination. That is the manufacturer’s launch pricing basis, not a current used-car valuation. A separate FCA US LLC window sticker for one 2024 vehicle lists a $91,545 base price including dealer preparation. These figures have different bases and refer to different documents; they should not be treated as interchangeable. Jeep’s feature chart is not a price sheet; the vehicle-specific 2024 window sticker supplies the latter base-price figure.

The sticker price is only one part of the ownership case. Fuel use is substantial, while the winch, tires, lift, and other equipment have real utility for a buyer who will use them. If the priority is simply a Wrangler for commuting or occasional trails, this specialized powertrain and its launch price are a hard sell.
Fuel economy and road-test results
The examined 2024 vehicle sticker gives EPA estimates of 13 mpg city, 16 highway, and 14 combined. Those are EPA estimates printed on that vehicle’s label, not results from a road test. The window sticker provides the EPA figures.

Autoblog reported 15 mpg in mixed driving and 5 mpg in stop-and-go city use during its own 2025 review. Those are the publication’s observed test results, not EPA ratings or a promise of what every owner will see. The especially low stop-and-go result illustrates why heavy urban use can make the V-8’s fuel demands more noticeable. Autoblog’s review describes its driving and figures.
How it drives: speed and sound, with Wrangler trade-offs
The HEMI’s strongest argument is its character: abundant power, quick acceleration, and a deep exhaust note in a vehicle built for rough terrain. GearJunkie reviewer Bryon Dorr praised its speed, power, sound, and off-road capability, while noting that buyers pay heavily for those upgrades. That is a reviewer’s judgment, not a measured comparison against another SUV. GearJunkie’s review gives Dorr’s assessment.

The same review reports exhaust drone during deceleration, cabin noise, and vague, disconnected steering. It also flags the roof-panel material. These are subjective impressions, but they describe the sort of daily-use compromise to weigh against the engine’s appeal. This remains a Wrangler first: the V-8 does not turn it into a quiet, polished highway cruiser.
Autoblog likewise described a capable but costly send-off and reported a 4.5-second 0–60 mph result in its review. That test result happens to match Jeep’s claimed figure, but one publication’s test should not be generalized to every condition or vehicle. Its verdict was that the capability and performance are difficult to justify at the price for many buyers. Autoblog’s road test is the source for that independently reported result and assessment.

Why “Final Edition” does not settle whether it was the last Wrangler V-8
Jeep announced 3,700 Final Edition units globally: 3,300 for the U.S., 300 for Canada, and 100 for other markets. The announcement supports that allocation for the 2024 package; it does not establish how many were ultimately sold, whether one is available now, or whether no later Wrangler model year offered a V-8. Jeep executive Bill Peffer called it a send-off for the 392-powered Wrangler in the launch announcement, but that wording should be read as a statement about the special edition rather than definitive evidence of all subsequent production. The announcement contains Jeep’s allocation and send-off language.
PBS/MotorWeek framed the question as whether it was “The Last Wrangler With A HEMI V8 Engine?” That question captures the uncertainty; it does not resolve it. MotorWeek’s coverage asks the question, but neither its headline nor the 2024 package name is proof of later model-year production status.
Quick Recap
Who should consider it?
- It makes sense for: a buyer who specifically wants factory V-8 power and sound in a serious four-door Rubicon, values the included trail equipment, and accepts the price and fuel use.
- It is a poor fit for: someone seeking low running costs, quiet highway comfort, precise steering, or a straightforward value-oriented Wrangler.
- Before shopping: treat Jeep’s MSRP as a dated launch price, not today’s asking price. The sources here do not establish live inventory, current resale values, or current availability.
