Honda announced seven 2024 Talon 1000 side-by-sides: four two-seat models and three four-seat models. The X versions are aimed at tighter, technical terrain; R versions are aimed at faster, more open terrain. Within either family, the main choice is seating capacity and whether you want standard Showa shocks or FOX Live Valve adaptive suspension.
Which 2024 Honda Talon 1000 models are available?
Honda announced four two-seat and three four-seat configurations for the US market. The prices below are Honda’s launch MSRPs, announced January 23, 2024, not current dealer offers or transaction prices. Honda said US powersports products are sold through independent authorized Honda retail dealers.

How do the Talon 1000X and 1000R differ?
Honda positions the X for wooded two-track routes and tight, technical terrain, while the R is intended for faster speeds, open terrain, and rugged desert trails. Honda describes the same broad distinction for the four-seat X-4 and R-4. These are the manufacturer’s intended-use descriptions, not independent comparative ride-test findings.

What does FOX Live Valve change?
The non-Live Valve 2024 versions use Showa shocks. Honda says its work with Showa focused on ride comfort and rebound control while retaining bottoming resistance. The FOX Live Valve models use adaptive suspension. Those benefits and descriptions are Honda’s; the available specifications do not provide an independent head-to-head test showing how the systems perform in particular conditions.
Live Valve is not simply a different name for more suspension travel: on the two-seat X, for example, Honda lists 14.6 inches of front travel for the standard model and 14.4 inches for the Live Valve version. Compare the specific trim’s full specifications rather than assuming the adaptive system means greater travel.

What do the 2024 Talon models share?
Honda lists the same core powertrain for the two- and four-seat models: a longitudinally mounted, liquid-cooled 999cc Unicam parallel-twin four-stroke engine with fuel injection, paired with an automatic six-speed dual-clutch transmission, reverse, and a high/low sub-transmission.
For the four-seat models, Honda lists 7.7 gallons of fuel capacity and 299 pounds of cargo-bed capacity. Depending on configuration, the four-seat specifications list curb weights from 1,790 to 1,843 pounds, widths of 64.0 or 68.1 inches, and wheelbases of 116.4 or 118.7 inches. If you are checking a trailer, garage, or trail-width constraint, use the specification for the exact trim rather than relying on one family-wide dimension. Honda four-seat specifications

Honda states that the models meet current CARB and EPA off-road emissions standards and recommends them for riders age 16 and older. Those are manufacturer statements in the 2024 specifications; check the rules that apply to your location and intended use. Two-seat specifications · Four-seat specifications
How should you choose among the seven trims?
- Choose a two-seat model if two seats meet your needs; choose an X or R according to Honda’s stated tighter-trail or open-terrain orientation.
- Choose a four-seat model if you need the additional seating. Honda offered an X-4 with standard Showa shocks, an X-4 with FOX Live Valve, and an R-4 with FOX Live Valve.
- Compare the exact suspension package if shocks and suspension travel are deciding factors. The standard models use Showa shocks; Live Valve trims use adaptive suspension, and travel figures differ by trim.
- Confirm dimensions and fitment against the exact model if vehicle width, wheelbase, trailer space, or accessories matter.
Can you add a windshield or other accessories?
Honda’s Talon 1000X-4 product page lists accessories including a full audio system, windscreens, a winch, auxiliary LED lighting, body and chassis protection, and Honda Pro-Connect offerings. That listing does not establish that every item fits every 2024 Talon trim.
